OF SPECIAL INTEREST Nearly 60 years ago, a French chef hit upon a blend of vegetable essences which had an almost magical effect on the color and flavor of many foods. Kitchen Bouquet is that blend, its formula still a closely guarded secret. It is not a price. Not a condition. Not like anything else in the world. Demonstrator Is Booster for K C There is not a purer, better nor more effective baking powder on the market than K C. Miss Isabel Franklin told women in attendance at the Gazette's cooking school at the L. O. Q. P. hall yesterday. The lecturer at the cook- ing school is using double-tested, double-action K C baking powder exclusively during the entire school. K C is made by manufacturers who make nothing but baking powder and because of this, they have been able to develop a highly efficient product by concentrating all their research toward the improvement of this one product. For 46 years K C baking powder has been selling at the same standard price, and there is more K C manufactured and shipped than any other brand. SHOOTING GOOD Duck shooting has been fine in San Diego county since the opening of the season, November 27. Many limits of bluegill, sprig and teal have been bagged at Lake Henshaw, Cuyamaca lake, Morena and Ootay reservoirs, according to reports received by the National Automobile club. Prospects for a continued good season are favorable. LEGAL NOTICE CERTIFICATE OF DOING BUSINESS Under Fictitious Name The Undersigned does hereby certify that he is conducting a trucking business at 431 Malvern avenue in the city of Fullerton, County of Orange, State of California under the fictitious name of Mather Truck Company, and Bell's Product for Seasoning Popular Thinking in terms of better flavored foods, the modern house- keeper invariably turns to Bell's Seasoning—rather than the inac- curate, more expensive method of using a score of different spices. Bell's Seasoning combines many herbs and spices blended together under a formula proven as long ago as 1867. Make use of this really splendid universally liked seasoning for meats of all kinds—flesh, fish or fowl. You'll discover a new and thrilling flavor if you'll use Bell's in soups, stews, and casserole dishes. Whole Family Is Fond of Vegeroni Vegeroni, the modern answer to the housewife's prayer for something "new" for the luncheon main dish, or to introduce a pleas- ing variety into her daily menus, is being given an enthusiastic re-ception at the cooking school this week. Such enthusiasm is more than justified, according to Miss Isabel Franklin, well known culinary authority who is conducting the cooking school, for not only does Vegeroni provide variety in the menu, but at the same time it supplies the necessary food elements, minerals, and vitamins, which are so important, especially to children. For Vegeroni is a combination of the finest quality macaroni, and ten mineral and vitamin bearing vegetables, scientifically produced in selected areas to give them the highest possible mineral content. Dr. Omer Mills, head of the camp program, with the assistance of Norman Corse, Arvin camp manager, and Robert Hardie, Shafter camp manager, is moving the families into their new homes. Each of these 20 homes will be rented for $8.70 per month, which rental includes light and water. Water is furnished from the well at the Arvin migrant camp. It is planned to furnish the homes but at present the rentees must provide their own furniture. Tobasco Adds to Food’s Flavoring "A dish is no better than its seasoning," says Miss Isabel Franklin, who is now conducting the cooking school at the I. O. O. F. hall. "And epicures everywhere applaud foods which are prepared with a dash of Mc Ilhenney's Tabasco." Morning, noon, and night, this tangy sauce may be employed to lend subtle piquancy to the preparation of dishes delectable to the palate, and stimulating to the digestion. Morning doldrums may be alleviated by a dash of Tabasco on the breakfast eggs. Added to soups, gravies, baked potatoes, milk, tomatoes or tomato cocktails, and dozens of other dishes, it provides that snappy tang so appealing. Products by Iris Uniformily Good California housewives know that their reputation for serving delicious meals depends on knowing how and what to buy as well as knowing how to prepare the various dishes. The finest cook can trace disappointment to a poor quality food. She realizes that no matter how well she can prepare foods, she cannot cook flavor into an inferior quality of vegetable or meat or fish. Today the housewife knows how to be sure that the vegetables or fruits are going to taste the way they should. Years ago, she had to depend upon her own knowledge. She had to select personally everything that went on her table. Now, thanks to the packers of Iris fine foods, she can choose with certainty her vegetables and fruits, knowing full well that the flavor is going to be all it should be. The reason is that Iris label is a grade-mark as well as a trade mark. Only the pick-of-the-pack is packed under that fine label. The Iris experts not only know where to find the tastiest, most luscious fruits and vegetables, but they know at what season they have arrived at their height. There's no off-season on Iris products because the food must be full flavored, full bodied, and full valued to carry that name. So, many California housewives have become wise buyers by learning that they can trust the name Iris to bring flavor and genuine goodness, no matter what item of the over 200 is selected. It is a matter of pride with the Haas, Baruch company that Iris is only associated with finer, more delicious foods. Smith's Rice Gives Recipe with Cartoon Contrary to general opinion rice is not "just rice". You come to realize that at least one rice is so superior that it is known as "perfect rice"—perfect in the uniformity of its grains, perfect in that it is all of one variety and perfect in the uniformity of cooking. This rice is "Smith's Perfect Rice" will prove to give superior flavor. Used in countless ways familiar to housewives, will help to make rice a new light. On each package will be found a master recipe. Follow directions and Smith's Perfect rice will make and keep you "rice minded" you have never been before. Reason for Double Lines is Revealed When you see the double white lines on the highway keep to right and you will keep out trouble. This was the advice given by the public safety department of the Automobile Club of Southern California. The state Highway Department has painted double white lines on the pavement approaching blue curves, railroad grade crossing, the crests of grades, and at other points where driving to the loft of the center of the highway dangerous. Signs also have been installed cautioning motorists against passing over the double lines. Morning, noon, and night, this tangy sauce may be employed to lend subtle piquancy to the preparation of dishes delectable to the palate, and stimulating to the digestion. Morning doldrums may be alleviated by a dash of Tabasco on the breakfast eggs. Added to soups, gravies, baked potatoes, milk, tomatoes or tomato cocktails, and dozens of other dishes, it provides that snappy tang so appealing to the appetite. Its biting property is due to the oil of capsaicum, which is a stimulant of the peptic glands, thus a great aid to digestion. This piquant sauce has held favor everywhere, for more than 60 years, according to its manufacturers, the Me Illhenny company, who make the Tabasco in Louisiana, where a Gallic deference to the fine art of seasoning has long distinguished food. Motoring visitors to the 1939 World's Fair of the West will burn 6,000,000 gallons of gasoline in California alone. "Mile of Christmas Trees" is Brilliant Altadena's famous Christmas trees again will be illuminated this year, the Automobile Club of Southern California has been informed. Santa Rosa avenue has been officially designated as "The Mile of Christmas Trees," a new name. Lights will be turned on at 5:30 o'clock on December 24 and every night thereafter up to and including January 1. Each night they will be turned off at 11 o'clock.
