Columnist to Speak
At U.N. Celebration
The tenth anniversary of the Orange County Chapter of the American Association for the United Nations will be observed at a dinner meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, November 25, at 7 p.m. in the President's Dining Room of the Chapman College dining hall in Orange.
Speaker for the evening will be Dixon Gayer of La Habra, an associate professor of journalism at Long Beach State College and columnist on the Oceanside Blade-Tribune.
A graduate of the University of California and Long Beach State College, Gaver has been a free lance writer for several national magazines and also was public relations director for RCA Victor Records. He is a past regional president of the National Cystic Fibrosis Research Foundation. He has been on the faculty at Long Beach State since 1959.
Mrs. Charles P. Greening of Fullerton, current president of the chapter, will preside at the meeting. Post chapter presidents who are being invited as special guests are Judge Lester Van Tatenhove, the first president, Mrs. B. T. Trickey, Charles E. Parker, Harlan Anderson, Mrs. Wallace Walton, Rev. F. Quinn Beebe, and Dr. Paul H. Demaree.
The public is invited to attend the meeting. Reservations should be made by calling the public relations office at Chapman College before Friday, November 22.
JUNIOR ACHIEVER — Karen Weisman, an Anaheim High School student, sells stock in Dyna-Craft Co., to Achiever Advisor W. H. Lindsay, District Plant Engineer for Pacific Telephone. With Pacific Telephone acts as management advisor, they formed Dyna-Craft Company, by selling stock at fifty cents per share, they will capitalize their company and finance the manufacturing of two products. One is an attractive soap novelty; the other an expandable garment hanger for use in automobiles. Officers of the company are: Alan Boal, president; Karen Weisman, treasurer; Judy Stilwell, secretary; George Palms, vice president - sales; and Julie Clark, vice president - production.
New Manager Selected for Junior Achievement Center
Appointment of Al Halpern as manager of the Orange County Junior Achievement Business Center, 1014 Raymond Way, Anaheim, was confirmed today by Clarence N. Parker Jr., vice president.
Halpern lives with his wife and two children at 415 South Cloverdale Ave. in Los Angeles. He attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh following World War II service as a bombardier-navigator in the Air Force.
Parker said that the Junior Chapter in Southwest Pennsylvania.
Halpern, who has already taken over his duties as manager of the Orange County JA Business Center, said that there are a total of 17 teenager companies now organized in Orange County.
Each has its own president and officers and product. Each company is advised by representatives from local industry, he said.

Parker said that the Junior Achievement program is a "learn-by-doing" program designed to give teenagers an opportunity to learn about the American system of private enterprise by actually organizing and operating miniature businesses.
Prior to moving to California, Halpern was a member of the management staff in the Industrial Relations Department of U.S. Steel Corporation in Duquesne, Penn. During his 11 years with U.S. Steel, he served in various supervisory capacities in personnel, employee services, safety and training.
While with U.S. Steel, he served for four years on the corporation's JA counselling team and as a member of the Junior Achievement board of directors of the Steel Valley JA

Civic Leaders Invited To Go
Civic leaders and press representatives from throughout the county attended a breakfast this morning at the Goodwill Industries plant in Santa Ana marking the opening of the organizations new $350,000 plant addition.
At a continental breakfast in the Goodwill cafeteria, a large gold key will be presented to the Goodwill board of contractor Allison Honer, of Santa Ana, and Everett Child, of Fullerton, representing presentation of the new building.
Tour Planned
Afterward the guests will be conducted on a tour of the new addition, covering 37,000 square feet of floor space and multiplying the size of the origi-nal plant nearly four times, to a total capacity of 50,000 square feet.
Goodwill president Robert Welch, of Orange, will preside over initiation of the new structure, which was required to meet demands for expanding Goodwill facilities to employ and rehabilitate the physically handicapped.
The new unit marks the first step in a $600,000 building program, to be financed by donations from firms, organizations, foundations, individuals and bequests, it was announced by Gaylord Hicks, executive director.
The Goodwill capital funds will continue to be financed, as committee, headed by Walter Knott, of Buena Park, is directing the fund raising, working through assistant executive director Robert Rothwell.

This week has been proclaimed Air Force Reserve Week in Northern Orange County by Fullerton Mayor Burton Herbst. Working closely with the mayor and other Orange County officials, and informing the public of the new role and new opportunities now being offered in the Air Force Reserve is Major William Lyon, commander of the 943rd Troop Carrier Group.

"No outside financial help has ever been received for our operations," he stated, "but it would not be practical, nor would it be fair to our handicapped, to use operations funds for capital outlay, especially of such magnitude."
AIR FORCE RESERVE TO BE HONORED

A meeting held tonight will culminate the week-long event. The meetings will be held at 8 p.m. in the council chambers of the new Fullerton city hall, 301 W. Commonwealth. Both active and inactive reservists are invited to attend to review their reserve status. Besides Air Force veterans, Army, Navy and Marine reservists are also invited.
Mayor Lyon and other reservists will conduct the meetings and outline the improved opportunities available to area reservists and past veterans in the new and expanded Air Force Reserve. Included will be information concerning the new pay raise recently enacted by congress, new opportunities for promotions and increased pay, as well as projected plans for the addition of new craft soon to be added to reserve inventory.
