To Be Featured
At YWCA Show
Tomorrow, Saturday, and Sunday are the dates set for the third annual Art, Mosaic, and Three-Dimensional Show and Sale, sponsored by the Art Committee of the Santa Ana area LWCA.
The show will be held at the Y building, 1411 N. Broadway, Santa Ana. It will include a representative collection of the works of Orange County artists in oils, water colors, collage, tempera and mosaics.
Smal objects of art will also be on display along with the paintings.
Members of the committee responsible for the showing are Mrs. Rose Neff, chairman, and the Mmes. John Pouk, Loid Thistlethwaite, Leo Richards, Walter Shullstrom and Cordy Weick.
Exhibit hour are 7-9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday.
Saturday's special feature will be an international buffet sup per featuring foods from countries which have had a strong influence on art. The supper is being planned by a committee headed by Mrs. Henry Kven, and includes the Mmes. Robbin Coons, Hal Davis, Roy Giordano, Niel Nelson, and H. Walter Steiner.

St. Joseph's Hospital Guild and the Orange County Auxiliary. City of Hope, both sponsor race days at Los Alamitos this week, Friday for the Auxiliary, Saturday for the Guild.
The Guild, organized in 1955, is seeking to match the $7,000 it raised through the race day last year in order to buy a cobalt machine for the hospital.
Guild members give voluntary service to the hospital as well as raising funds for equipment.
Mrs. John Daniell is president of the Guild with Mrs. Sam Hurwitz as president elect. Also serving are Mmes. Gene Westmyer, Frank Miller, James Walker and Bruce Julian, vice presidents; Donald F. Hein recording secretary; F. S. Rose, corresponding secretary; John F. Tidgewell Jr., treasurer; Joseph T. Wallin, financial secretary; and Clark Engleman, parliamentarian.
Mrs. Julian is general chairman of the fund raising project; Mrs. Daniel Gallivan has charge of tickets; and publicity is handled by Mrs. Charles Wenrich and Mrs. Norval Granz. Also on the committee are Mrs. Daniell and Mrs. Mark Beam.
It will be a "race for life" Friday when Keys of Hope, Orange County auxiliary of the City of Hope, sponsors its first Day at the Races.
The City of Hope is concerned with the catastrophic diseases of our era — cancer, leukemia, maladies of the heart, blood and chest, and certain hereditary disorders, catastrophic physically, and financially. Since its founding in 1913, the City of Hope has never presented a bill to a patient for services rendered regardless of length of stay or complicated treatment involved. The center relies upon donations from patients and people interested in furthering research to cure and control these diseases.
Chairman for the event is Pat Burrell, assisted by the men and women of the Auxiliary to raise funds for the non-sectarian Medical Center.
Dinah Shore, well known singer will present the traditional roses to the winner of the feature race, the “Race for Life.”
A donation of $2.50 to the City of Hope entitles the donor to a clubhouse admission. Tickets may be ordered and donations made by writing: City of Hope, 3803 Casselle Ave., Orange, California.
Keys of Hope received its charter June 8, 1963, and has 60 members, both men and women. Don Rubin is president. Others serving are Adrian Terzen, first vice president; Gary Rusk, second vice president; Max Hyde, treasurer; Martha Hyde, recording secretary; and Shirley Sulze, corresponding secretary.

Jim Klein, council activities chairman, is chairman of the dance and is being assisted by co-chairman Mrs. O. L. Elton, president of the auxiliary.
Theme of the midwinter gala is Winter Wonderland. Decorations, under the chairmanship of Mrs. W. H. Bebee, will carry out the theme, with snowmen, pine wreaths and sleighs.
Wally Davis and the Continentals will provide the music. The dance is open to the public;ceeds will aid council projects, Klein said.
Others working on this are W. H. Bebee, grandmother of the west Anaheim George Gross, supreme civil representative and M.Foley, of the auxiliary.

Dinah Shore Will Assist In Race Day
Dinah Shore will present a special trophy to the winning jockey at the City of Hope's "Day at the Races," Friday.
Nov. 22, at the Los Alamitos Race Course. This major sports day is sponsored by the Keys of Hope chapter for the pilot Medical Center.
Tickets and information about the event may be obtained from Don Rubin, president of the group, at 535-8596. Tickets may also be obtained at the race track.

Six Here Hailed

In Rushing Event
Six Anaheim women were guests in the first rush season event of the new local chapter of Sigma Phi Gamma, international sorority.
The event was held in the home of Mrs. Eugene Karsz, who is Eta Province Councilor and a charter member of Kappa Nu, the new chapter. It culminated two years of organization, and pledging.
The lovely tea table centerpiece was fashioned from blue and gold chrysanthemums, signifying the Sigma Phi Gamma colors. Mrs. William Bland, chapter organizer and chairman of all rush activities served tea and coffee.
Mrs. Murdock Payne, chapter president, gave the history of the Kappa Nu Chapter, stating that it as the 19th chapter. It was initiated in Eta Province last July.
The history of Sigma Phi Gamma was given by Mrs. Karsz, the vice-president. She explained the organization's role as a social and philanthropic sorority, founded in 1920 in Hartford City, Ind.
Post-installation assistant — Mrs. Scott Leonard, Iota Upsilon Chapter, Garden Grove — told the group about the national welfare project which is philanthropic work in the south.

Charter members in attendance were the Mmes. Hiram Johnson, Donald King, Raymond Male, Earl McNamara, Rolland Thornton, Edward Williams, Donald Snyder and William Settles.
Plans are now in progress for the group's rush season highlight, the husband-wife Christmas dinner.
Juniors' Bazaar Today
There is still time to attend the annual Anaheim Junior Ebell Christmas Bazaar, which began at 10 this morning and will continue until 7.
The Bazaar is being held at the Ebell Clubhouse 313 Laguna Rd., Fullerton. The activity is the Senior Ways and Means project, and all members and friends are invited to join in the fun and perhaps finish some Christmas shopping.

Presiding and greeting members from church groups, clubs, organizations, and parents at the recent planning session for the March was Mrs. James J. Wright, Yorba Linda, Orange County chairman. Little Tracy Patrick, 5, of Anaheim, 1964 March of Dimes poster girl, was a special guest. They were introduced by Mrs. Donald Ells, 1963 chairman.
Included in the morning session were talks by Mrs. Norman Watson, Volunteer Director for Women's Activities for the Orange County Chapter, and Mrs. H. O. Boyvey, Volunteer Director of Women's Activities for the Southern California Region, March of Dimes.
Mrs. Boyrey gave a review of the history of the National local chapter and its rela-tion to the National Foundation. She also told of the work of the March of Dimes Birth Defects Clinics and the promises of the Salk Institute for Biological Studies now nearing completion.
Mrs. Watson stressed the importance of the "Mother's March" volunteers for the night of Jan. 28.
"Pherhaps the most important thing about the 1964 March of Dimes, she said," is the knowledge on the part of each volunteer that they are giving new hope to parents and a greater chance of a normal life to little children."
