"The city council has asked the manager's office to investigate the situation and report to the council with recommendations," said Anaheim City Manager Bob Davis. "Anaheim is willing to dispose of a portion of the water system as soon as Orange is willing to buy it." "The manager's office is free to recommend adjustments in the rates or leave them as they are pending Orange acquisition of the system." Davis said Anaheim is interested in selling the portions of the orange city manager George Weimer said his city is ready to move on acquisition as soon as Anaheim presents a deal. "We're waiting for a breakdown on figures," said Weimer. "As yet we haven't seen any. When we do, we'll get going on it." No Apologies Davis, in the meantime, had no apologies for Anaheim's rate structure. "The city increased the water rates because we provide better service," said Davis. "Dyke Water Co. rates were inadequate, but the Public Utilities Commission wouldn't allow a raise because the company didn't have enough invested in the operation." Davis said Orange consumers pay the same rates as Anaheim water customers in unincorporated territory, in Garden Grove and in Stanton. "We feel it's only fair that water users within the city should pay lower rates," said Davis. "After all, they pay taxes for improvements and for continuings support of the system, over and above the water rates."
