Ling Product Introduced
An automatic tracking filter designed specifically for vibration testing systems and using the proper phase lock principle to identify the sine wave in distorted signals is being introduced by Ling Electronics Divison of Ling-Temco-Vought, Inc. of Anaheim.
Link "Model TFA-100" recovers the sine wave component from complex sine-random signals and from sine signals containing noise and distortion. It is used in conjunction with a recording device to provide a spectral analysis of random phenomena.
Its unity gain design permits its integration with all modern vibration servo systems.
Slave units may be added to provide multiple channel filtering for recording or other analytical purposes.
Attorney Swats Fly Ordinance
Orange County's fly ordinance "contains flagrant violations of an individual's safeguards as contained in the Constitution," contends Atty. Richard Murphy.
Murphy also said the ordinance is an abuse of powers when he successfully moved for dismissal of fly ordinance violation charge against Mike Patin, 28, former Anaheim football player and Orange chicken farmer.
Acting Santa Ana-Orange Municipal Court Judge Arthur J. Aune, agreed with Murphy. Aune is a Santa Ana lawyer serving as judge pro tem. Prosecutor was Dep. Dist. Atty. James Smith.
The charges were filed by the County Health Department, which had two other cases pending in Anaheim - Fullerton Municipal Court.
Patin declared the Health Department's interpretation of the ordinance would ruin his business.
Health officers charged Patin with failure to properly dispose of droppings from his 15,000 chickens.
Patin concluded that the cost of doing business under the ordinance had driven one-fourth of Orange County's chicken ranchers out of business.

County Medical Alert Warns of Poisoning
It's an old warning and an often-repeated one. But the president of the Orange County Medi-cal Association is again cautioning parents about hazards of poisoning which exist in almost any household where small children live.
Dr. Harold F. Galbraith says most parents give top priority to the health and safety of their children, yet many of these parents unwittingly expose their youngsters to great risk by careless handling of household substances which are poisonous.

Night light for a nervous dachshund
One day a man called us about a dog. Seems the dog was afraid of the cat at Southern California Edison (a dog-owner himself) suggested a special and a good electrician. Result: dreamless sleep for a calmed canine owner. Day after day (and night) the investor-owned electric utility more than provide low-cost electricity. We try to please every custom citizen, we pay taxes to help build the new schoolhouse, library and take pride in being good neighbors—and in actively helping to build municipalities. For news of how community job opportunities are being opened and your neighbors, read right.
Local Association Poisoning Danger
It is a sobering thought," the musician says, "that accidents all types) represent the lead cause of death and disability among children in California, and at among accidents, swallowing harmful substances is the most common type."
These poisonings are most likely to occur among children under the age of three years, the medi association president points out, and since many poisonous household use, and since they are too often kept where they are not accessible, parents should instances are in widespread over lose sight of the character- behaviour pattern of children this "high risk" bracket.
These children are crawlers and wallers, the doctor reminds, by pull open everything they get their hands on — such as sweets and cabinet doors. They climb and each.. This means they will reach shelves and windows.
BACK FROM FAR EAST

dow sills. They find the space beneath the kitchen sink irresistible. And they will relentlessly put everything and anything into their mouths.
"Don't leave a child alone for an instant while you are working with household substances which have toxic contents, "Dr. Galbraith urges. "If the phone rings or if there is a knock at the door, pick the child up and take him along when you answer."
Many external medications, including preparations for baby skin, are harmful if swallowed, the doctor points out. Antiseptics, ointments for the skin; rubbing alcohol, eye medications and linaments should be guarded.
Of the internal medicines which, when used in excess, can endanger a child, the most common offender is aspirin, including baby aspirin. Others in this category include analgesics, laxatives, anti-diarrheal agents, sedatives, tranquilizers, cough medicine, nose drops, antibiotics, antihistamines, hormone preparations, vitamins, reducing aids and vaporizers.
Household preparations which should be kept out of reach, in fact under lock and key, Dr. Galbraith says, include bleaches, disinfectants, lye, furniture polish and wax, dry cleaning fluid, soaps, metal polish, shoe polish, household deodorizers, dyes and tints.
Accidental poisoning is sometimes caused by cosmetics such as manicuring aids, perfume, after shave lotions, deodorants and hair preparations.
Other substances which have been involved in the accidental poisoning of children include kerosene, lighter fluid, pesticides (including rodenticides and moth repellants), paints, solvents, ink especially ink in ballpoint pens), matches and spoiled food.
Accidental poisoning should be treated only by a physician, Dr. Galbraith emphasizes. And the parent can help he adds, by retaining the label on the original container of a "nonous materials so that the doctor will know the exact contents of what the child has ingested.

Answers to key questions about the investor-owned electric utility industry and the all-electric future
How does Edison help create job opportunities in Southern California?
Investor-owned companies such as Edison have a real stake in the prosperity of their home communities—and are busy clear across the country doing something about building business and attracting industry. Example? Here is one of a series of national advertisements published by Southern California Edison.
This ad dramatizes the advantages of sun-kissed Culver City as the "perfect plant site" for a modern industry. The advertisements are part of a consistent drive by Edison to attract industries to the 11-county area which we serve.
How does the electric industry help ease your tax load?
The investor-owned electric utility companies rank first of all industries in total taxes paid in support of local, state and federal governments (see chart below).

One of the many important differences
between government-operated power agencies and investor-owned electric companies
is this: The former are supported by taxes
— while the investor-owned utility companies are major supports of the community,
the state and the nation.
Southern California Edison pays taxes
to help build and maintain schools, fire
stations, police systems and other mainstays of our way of life. Edison’s total
taxes for 1962 came to $85.7 million (that's
about one quarter million dollars every day
of the year!) Taxes represent almost
24 cents of every dollar of our revenue.
