Busy Agenda
For Xi Eta Eta
Beta Sigma Phi, Xi Eta Eta chapter, is planning its Installation Dinner and Dance May 11 at Anaheim's Tamasha Country Club, and the Southern California Council breakfast, sponsored by the same group, will take place May 19 at the Sportsman's Lodge in San Fernando Valley, Mrs. Robert Smith, president has announced. Mrs. James Ames, club sponsor, will be installed as Southern California Council Sponsor at the latter event.
At the recent Founder's day Dinner, Xi Eta Eta received first place achievement award for the Exemplar chapters. Mrs. Jack Rae was chosen Chapter Girl of the Year and Eileen LeBrun was installed as president of Northern Orange County Council for the ensuing year.
Xi Eta Eta chapter, meeting at the home of Mrs. Robert Lowe, heard Mrs. Rae review "The Crumbling Kremlin" written by Dr. Padgett.
Drill Team Plans Show
The Western High School Silhouettes Drill Team will present its Sixth Annual Spring Show Friday, May 17, at 8 p.m. in the Western boys' gym. Mrs. Margaret Eggertz, drill team instructor, has announced that the theme will be "A Child's World."

The Western High School Silhouettes Drill Team will present its Sixth Annual Spring Show Friday, May 17, at 8 p.m. in the Western boys’ gym. Mrs. Margaret Eggertz, drill team instructor, has announced that the theme will be “A Child’s World.” Tickets will be on sale at the door.
The Silhouettes will demonstrate precision marching and dance routines to such numbers as "Night Train," "Ain't She Sweet," and "Moon Over Miami."
The girls will wear six different outfits, including a rhumba costume top hat, and tails, clown outfit, playing card costume, cowgirl outfit, and their traditional black dress.
Barbara Falconer, new drill team leader, and present leaders Colleen Williams, Barbara Brueggemann, and Suzanne Morgan will announce two new assistant leaders for next year. Girls who are trying for the honor are Diane Costantino, Nonnie Curtis, Luci Mendenhall, Pam Palka, Marsha Olsthoorn, Sharon Robinson, and Karen Wilson.
Chemists to Heart Beauty 'Secrets'
The American Chemical Society has announced its third annual Ladies Night to be held in the Trivoli Room of the Charterhouse Hotel, 1700 South Harbor Blvd. in Anaheim on Saturday, May 18. The social hour will begin at 7:00 p.m. followed by the dinner. Dancing will be offered in the Mayan Lounge following a short Mrs. Betsy Bemvins Soffer Product Development Chemist for business meeting.
Edith Rehnborg Cosmetics will be the featured speaker. She worked with Max Factor and Company where she became Assistant to the Chief Chemist before she became associated with Edith Rehnborg Cosmetics. Because she is so well known in the American Chemical Society was Social Committee Chair of the Southern California Section for 1957-58, Councilor from 61 and a member of the Board of Directors in 1961.
Her topic is entitled — "Cosmetics Can Make You Look From A Chemist's Viewpoint" and will deal with skin and application of make-up. Comments concerning the chemistry nature and development of cosmetics will be discussed.

Luncheon Set
The annual Mother-Daughter luncheon, sponsored by the Sisterhood of Temple Beth Sholom, Mrs. Henry Klipstein, president, will take place on Saturday, May 11 at 12:30 p.m. in the social hall of the temple at Tustin and Fairhaven in Santa Ana. It will be preceded by a Sabbath service in the sanctuary at 11:15 a.m.
After the luncheon, Mdmes, Alex Sherman and Morton Siegel, co-chairmen of the day, have arranged a fashion show, narrated by Michael Mendeloff of the Bernhard Ullman Company, and featuring sisterhood members and their daughters in lovely hand-knit outfits.
Among the models are Mdmes, Max Fischel, Jack Goodman, Fred Berkowitz, Samuel Gliksohn, Jack Cooper, Horace Caden and Jack Kay. Also the Miles, Debby Kadin, Pam Sherman, Georgie Fisher, Suzanne Klatzker, Sandra Singer and Rae Lois Cooper. Donation is $2.50 for adults and $1.50 for children under 12. Amateur Rose Growers Plan Pageant Entry
A record number of entries is expected at the fourth annual free Mother’s Day Rose Show scheduled Saturday and Sunday, May 11 and 12, in the “Pageant of Roses Garden” at Rose Hills Meadow.

Tip Toppers Plan Dinner
Orange County Tip Toppers plan to do quite a bit of traveling for dinner when they hold a progressive dinner party on Saturday, May 18, according to Lynda Sprague, one of the program sponsors.
Friends and relatives of members are invited to join this fun activity, she declared. Reservations are requested so "mysterious" hosts can plan menus. Members will be given only the starting place and the evening progressions will be known only to a few. Transportation will be provided for any member who requests it.

Growers Plan Pageant Entry
A record number of entries is expected at the fourth annual free Mother's Day Rose Show scheduled Saturday and Sunday, May 11 and 12, in the "Pageant of Roses Garden" at Rose Hills Memorial Park.
John vanBerneveld, Pacific Southwest Director of the American Rose Society and show chairman, said yesterday that "this is an excellent rose year, so we expect more than 1,000 roses and rose arrangement entries at the show."
The two-day show, open to the public without entry or admission charge, is jointly sponsored by the Rio San Gabriel Rose Society and Rose Hills. Entries will be accepted from 7 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 11. The show will be open to the public from noon to 6 p.m. that day and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday; Mother's Day. Ample free parking is provided.
Those wishing to enter roses in the show can obtain a free brochure outlining entry classifications, awards and rules by writing or phoning Rose Hills, the show chairman said.
New Director At Robertshaw
M. Thuney has been appointed as director of manufacturing for Robertshaw's Aeronautical and Instrument Division at Anaheim, California, it was announced in Anaheim by J. F. Tobias, division general manager.
Thuney is a native of Plattsburg, New York, and holds a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from George Washington University at Washington, D.C. He also attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. He had been active in civie affairs, including the organization of Little League baseball and Cub Scouting, and served a term as councilman for the Town of Somerest, Chevy Chase, Maryland.
Before joining Robertshaw, Thuney was active for 20 years in the instrument manufacturing company.

the District of Columbia, and a

of Heating, Refrigerating and Airconditioning Engineers.
He is married to the former Esther J. Pick of Boise, Idaho. His
mother, Mrs. Minnie A. Thuney,
resides at Wayne, Pennsylvania.

Church Group
To Initiate
Building Plan
St. Mark's Methodist Church,
3718 W. Orange Ave., Anaheim,
will inaugurate a building fund and current expense campaign in May, church officials announced this week.
At the present time services are held in a residence that has been reconstructed as a chapel and class rooms. As the congregation and Sunday School attendance increases, the need for a Sanctuary and Church school building has become greater.
Campaign plans will get underway under the direction of Rev. Harold Bryant. He is a field representative of the National Board of Missions of the Methodist Church in Nashville, Tennessee. He will conduct worship services and give instructions to the local Church in the success conduct of a Building Fund Campaign.
Richard Richmond will be general chairman of the campaign. His committee will include Advance gifts, Jack Lyons, publicity, Jeanne Edwards, teams division, John Tyler, meals, Yolanda Scheoepflin, Secretary, Marilyn Todd.
