Students Ready 'Mousetrap' Play
Western High School will present its final dramatic offering of the year on Saturday evening May 11. The selected play is Agatha Christie's thriller "The Mousetrap." Curtain is at 8 p.m. promptly in the district auditorium, located at Anaheim High School.
"The Mousetrap" is the longest-running play in the history of the English theatre. It is now entering its thirteenth year of consecutive performance. Western's director, Eugene Mitch, saw the professional production in London and hopes to re-create the original excitement of the play.
The play concerns a group of people trapped in a rural English guesthouse by snowdrifts. To their horror they discover that a murderer lurks in their midst. Jim Gudath, recent winner of top acting honors at a National Thespian tournament, will be seen as the investigating police officer. Chris Godbe and Steve Braunch will portray the young couple who own the hotel. The guests will be enacted by John Dooley, Roger Richmond, Cathy Jackson, Max Klein, and Sherri Oliphant.

Chapman Asks Annual Gifts
Chapman College is currently conducting its Annual Appeal campaign among its constituents, with some 17,000 letters going out this month.
Like all privae and church-related colleges, Chapman is dependent upon the annual gifts of alumni, corporations, foundations, and individual donors, in addition to support from the sponsoring denomination and endowment income in order to fully underwrite its operating budget, since tuition paid by the students covers only half of the cost of their education, the college states.
Since moving to Orange in 1954, Chapman has steadily increased its enrollment to a current figure this semester of 1123 students. The annual budget has also increased to some $1,300,000 this year.
