ORANGE COUNTY ASSEMBLYMEN ELECTED — State Treasurer Bert A. Betts (seated) shows winning low bid on $50 million in State Construction Bonds to Assemblymen William E. Dannemeyer, Jr.
Schools to Get Aid in
State Assemblyman William E. Dannemeyer (69th District) announced today that the start of a new University of California campus in Orange County will be financed from proceeds of the sale of State Construction Bonds by State Treasurer Bert A. Betts. Assemblyman Dannemeyer also announced that 18 school districts in the county will share in the proceeds of the $50 million in State School Building Aid Bonds also sold at the same time.
The districts in this area, which have current, approved applications for state aid to construct more classrooms, are Alamitos, Anaheim Union H.S., Buena Park, Centralia, Cypress, Fountain Valley, Fullerton, Garden Grove, Garden Grove Union H.S., La Habra City, Ocean View, Orange Unif., Placentia Unif., San Juan, Savanna, Tustin, Westminster and Yorba Linda.
“These bonds were sold at a net interest cost of 2.93 per cent,” Assemblyman Dannemeyer pointed out, “well below the national index on bonds, and giving California a rate below 3 per cent for the first time in five years on a major sale.”
The school districts designated in this county are to get progress payments during 1963, said Assemblyman Dannemeyer, in view of time requirements for site acquisitions, plans preparation and construction. They are among 171 districts throughout the State that had one or more applications for school building aid approved by the State Allocation Board during the year, and are therefore classified as currently state-aided.

By the California Association of Nurserymen
1. Start working on bigger blooms next year by feeding camellias now. Use an acid type fertilizer as directed on the label.
2. Pinching young bedding plants will encourage sturdier growth and more bloom later on.
3. Many vegetables can be found as seedling plants in nurseries this month. These are easily transplanted and far quicker than sowing seed.
4. Try potting up some tuberous begonias for use in patio areas or on a shady border.
5. The key to beautiful hanging fuchsias is plenty of water, frequent feeding and pinching. The latter insures new side shoots to carry bloom.
