Special Train To Flower Area A Southern Pacific "Springtime Excursion" special train will be run on Sunday, May 5th. Leaving Los Angeles at 8 a.m. daylight time, the all-day tour will traverse Antelope Valley where this year's display of wildflowers is expected to be at its height. Nature lovers, camera fans and rail enthusiasts will enjoy mile after carpeted mile of desert and hillside, transformed by the late rains into a panorama of color. The train, carrying lounge and grill cars, will then cross the Tehachiap Mountains, famed for their springtime scenic beauty, reaching its final destination at Bakersfield. The homeward trip, following the same route, is scheduled to return to Union Station at 8:35 p.m. Passenger stops will be made in both directions at Glendale and San Fernando. Reserved-seat coach fare is $8.75 per person, and children's tickets are $4.50. Additional information will be furnished by Southern Pacific or Golden West Rail Tours, sponsors of the outing, 2210 S. Sepulveda Blvd., Los Angeles 64. World Educators On USC Session Prominent educators from around the world will join the University of Southern California's regular faculty for USC's 58th annual summer session beginning June 17. From Oxford, England will come Dr. Ian D. Ramsey to teach religions and language; Sir Jacek Westrup to teach the music of Handel and Monteverdi; and Prof. Joseph A. Lauwerys to teach the sociology of education. From the Republic of China will come Mon. "Our Golden Dreams" will be the theme of the sixth annual installation dinner dance of the Anaheim Covenant B'nai B'rith Lodge and Covenant Chapter. The affair will be held Saturday, April 27, at the Greenbriar Inn in Garden Grove. Mrs. Robert Camac is chairman for the installation meeting and has disclosed plans for a social hour prior to dinner. Dinner music is to be provided by the "Ransom Four." Officers of the Lodge and the Chapter chosen for the coming year and who will be installed Sat. Gross, corresponding secretary; Harold Prottas, warden; Ephraim Kessler, guardian; and trustees, Mathian Cherry, Howard Garber, Robert Smallman, Arnold Landsman, Leo Linsk and Louis Perloff. The School of Education will again offer a 12-week special program, lasting from June 17 to September 7, to provide an opportunity for professional educators to complete a full semester's studies during their vacation time. Other programs will be given in six-weeks sessions, June 24 to August 3; and in four-week sessions from August 5 to August 31. In addition, special seminars of shorter duration will be offered. Men in Service 1ST CAVALRY DIV., KOREA (AHTNC)—Army Specialist Four Gary L. Hall, son of W. E. Hall, 1531 La Palma, Anaheim, recently took part in Exercise WINTERSNAP II, a cold weather field training maneuver in Korea, with other members of the 1st Cavalry Division. Jewish Adoption Aid Orange County Jewish families seeking to adopt a baby will welcome the news that Vista Del Mar Child-Care Service's adoption policy has been extended to include the area bounded by Glendora, Claremont, Pomona, La Verne, San Dimas, Fullerton, Anaheim Orange, Tustin Santa Ana Garden Grove and Huntington Beach. Wives under 40 and husbands under 45 are eligible, providing they are American citizens, have been married for three years and are residents of the area, according to Superior Court Judge Ben Koenig, president of the Los Angeles Community Chest agency which supplies multiple service to Jewish children. Millions Blooms Out At Rose Hills Nearly a million rose blooms on thousands of rose bushes — including 90 new varieties in the famed "Pageant of Roses Garden" — now are on view at Rose Hills Memorial Park, according to R. L. McNitt, Jr., President. McNitt announced the main garden has been expanded to make room for many new rose varieties so that three are now more than 4,000 rose bushes of 356 varieties on display. O APPEAR IN ANAHEIM — Joan Ross, San-Ana student of ballet, will have a solo role in the Santa Monica Civic Ballet presentation in Anaheim, May 17, according to plans of Direc-Andrel Tremaine. The organization will be seen at the Anaheim high school auditorium in Chopin's "Sylphides" and a portion of Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker Suite" as major feature of their program. OSC Students In Four Plays Orange State College's Experimental Theatre will present four one-act plays Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, April 25-27, for the second presentation of the OSC theatrical season. Scheduled for State 701 at 8 p.m., all three nights, the plays will give theater-goers an evening of varied entertainment as the OSC thespians present "Box and Cox" by James Morton, "The Clod" by James Barrie, "The Boor" by Anton Chekhov and "The Lesson" by Eugene Ionesco. Admission is free. The productions will also appear at the Rossmoor Shopping Center's Festival of the Arts on May 8.
