Local Case Emphasizes Blood Bank Worth Suppose your doctor told you that you needed 14 pints of blood to keep you alive during an operation. It did happen — and just recently — to an Anaheim resident, Mrs. Horace Clarke of 1531 Chanticleer Road. On June 6 she is scheduled for delicate open heart surgery. But had her physician requested 15 pints, 18 pints or even pints of blood Mrs. Clarke would have been prepared. Her church, the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints, 440 N. Loara St., has maintained a blood bank in cooperation with the American Red Cross for a number of years. When Mrs. Clarke arrives at the hospital her gift of blood will be waiting — at no cost. The Anaheim Red Cross Chapter, which is scheduling its blood-mobile, has stressed the importance of individual family and group blood bank. If blood credit is established, blood will be available to any member of the family, a friend, neighbor or fellow worker anytime and anywhere in the event of an emergency.
