Name Exhibit Judges
Laguna Art Festival
Thomas Messer, director of the Solomon H. Guggenheim Museum in New York, and Robert Brackman, noted New York painter and instructor, have been selected judges of the Ninth Annual All-California Art Exhibit at the 1963 Festival of Arts, July 6 through August 11. The All-California Exhibit is sponsored by the Festival of Arts with the cooperation of the Laguna Beach Art Association.
Rostand Kelly, Curator of the Laguna Beach Art Gallery, in announcing the competition, said this year's show will be open to all living California artists, and $2,000 in prize money will be awarded. Previously the All-California Art Exhibit has been an invitational competition.
The deadline for entries is Friday, June 28. Judging of the exhibition will be held June 29, with both Messer and Brackman giving a $500 first, a $300 second, and a $200 third place award. The All-California Exhibit will accept two works from any artist in oils, watercolors, or mixed media. Any single dimension should not exceed 60 inches, and work that has been shown previously in the exhibition will not be considered.
Further information regarding entry information can be obtained from the Laguna Beach Art Association, 307 Cliff Drive, Laguna Beach, California.

Beauty Queen Season Upon Us Once More
Contestants are beginning the trek to the sign-up table for the chance to win the coveted title of Miss Anaheim in the Miss California contest. Over a dozen girls have already indicated they are in the race, according to the Harry Conover Training Center in Orange which is responsible for signing up all Orange County contestants.
The title of Miss Anaheim seems to be an attractive one as girls from a variety of cities have entered the race.
It is not necessary that the entrants be from the city which they hope to represent, officials declare. The rules are quite liberal in this respect.
Actually, contestants need only to be residents of California, never married and be of comely face and figure. They must be at least 18 years of age by July 1.
The winners of the local contest will get a chance at the Miss California title which will be decided in Los Angeles on June 21. The winner in that event will go on to the Miss Universe contest at Miami Beach in mid-July.
The Gazette presents three Miss Anaheim hopefuls for you this week. We will hope to find photos of others in the intervening weeks before the contest.
