SHOP Downtown STORES SHOP & S SHOP D You'll F The Anaheim Gazette Wednesday, March 27, 1963 ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA Bal Masque Brings $13,350 to Hospital Damas de Caridad this week presented St. Jude Hospital a $13,350 check which represents proceeds from the second annual Bal Masque. The gift was given to the hospital administration Sister Jane Frances by Damas president Miss Marcelina Arroues. The presentation marked the highly successful climax of a year dedicated to the preparation and staging of "Bal Masque Internationale" Feb. 22 at the Disney-land Hotel Embassy Room. Nearly 800 guests dined, danced and watched the promenade of flower masque mannequins which was the highlight of the evening. Last year's ball, "Bal Masque Fantasy," produced a $10,000 donation for the hospital. In other action at the Damas membership meeting, ball chairman Mrs. Roger C. The stage play will be offered at three performances on April 6 in the Wilshire Jr. High School auditorium. The hours scheduled are 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. A fifty-cent donation for admission is requested. The Insurance Women of Orange County are acting as hostesses for the group. Members of the organization will come from California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona and Hawaii. The Disneyland Hotel will be the convention headquarters. Present plans for the local group for activities include a fashion show luncheon and a banquet on Sunday, March 31, as climaxes for the day. The five-day exercise, held from Feb. 4 through Feb 8, dealt mainly with anti-submarine warfare training. Keithley, son of Mr. and Mrs, edward Gattis of 1829 Chelsea Dr., Ananeim, completed recruit training, Feb. 1, at the Naval Training Center, San Diego, Calif. During the nine-week indoctrination to Navy life, recruits are trained in physical fitness, basic military law, military drill, customs and etiquette of the naval service, swimming and survival, first aid, and seamanship. Burke, director of placement services. The student teaching program is a requirement for those seeking a teaching credential. It provides candidates with adequate on-the-job training. Each candidate must maintain a 2.5 grade point average as a requirement for the program. This is a more stringent requirement than other state colleges demand.
