LA PALMA at EUCLID ANAHEIM PR 2-1617 Track and Field Meets Open To Junior, Senior Students The Anaheim Park and Recreation Department announces that the summer track and field meets will be open to all Junior High, Senior High and open athletes within the Anaheim High School District area. Dave Sommers, supervisor of Men and Boys' Activities, also said that on Aug. 8 and 9 there will be a Junior and Senior High Decathelon at Anaheim High School. The eligibility rule effecting the Junior and Senior Division states that boys entered must still be in Junior or Senior High School in order to compete in this classification. The Open Division applies to all comers who live within the school district. Commenting on the summer track and field meets, Sommers said that the meets will be held at Western High, June 27, Magolia High, July 11; Anaheim High, July 25; and Savanna High, Aug. 1. The field events will start at 5 p.m. and the running events will start at 5:30 p.m. The special events in the meet will include a 2-mile and 3-mile run. Dates and place will be announced. All those interested are asked to contact their Junior High or Senior High school track coaches. Name Speaker Dr. John E. Johnson, president of Santa Ana College, today disclosed that the Rev. The course offerings will enable the individual to make up deficiencies, enrich and accelerate their educational programs, and strengthen skills and understandings. The 1962 summer school program will be held at Anaheim High School, James McNamara principal: Magnolia High School, Dale Hughes principal: Trident Jr. High School, Ken Spencer principal, and at Walker Jr. High School, Steven Zorich principal. A student's attendance at a junior or senior high school is determined by the grade level of the student for the 1961-62 school year. Any exceptions to this rule must be approved by the summer school principal concerned. The program will commence on June 25, and close on Aug. 3. Classes will be in session from 8 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. The school district will not provide bus transportation for students attending summer school. Courses are being offered on the senior high school level in the areas of typing, English, foreign languages, drafting, mathematics, science, and social science; and on the junior high school level in art, English, mathematics, science, foreign languages, social science, home economics, typing, study methods, science workshop and fundamental grammar, provided enough interest is shown by students prior to closing of the current school year. Pre-registration is presently under way in all of the schools of the Anaheim Union High School District. Parents requiring additional information concerning the registrations of their children for summer school are requested to contact the office of the summer school principal concerned. Begonia Group Tabs Speaker for June 14 Mrs. Jean Kerlin, of Altadena, will speak on 'Begonias in Landscaping' as guest speaker for the Orange County Branch of the American Begonia Society that meets June 14 at 8 p.m. in the Garden Grove Grange Hall, Century Blvd. and Taft Ave. in Garden Grove. Kurtis Kasner, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Kasner, of Anaheim, and Sharon Case, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin T. Case, of Orange, have been named co-electors of the Fullerton Junior College Torchlight literary magazine to published in June. Miss Case was one of 80 FJC candidates for Woman of the Year and a Homecoming Queen candidate. She is secretary for Alpha Gamma Sigma, the college honor society. She is majoring in humanities. Kasner is a mathematics major and plans to continue his studies at UCLA on a State scholarship.
