HOLLY LOWE Lauri Peters, who left the Broadway cast of "The Sound of Music" to screen debut in "Miss Hobbs Takes A Vacation," is cinch to win the appreciation of every sub-teen and teen-age girl in the world. Lauri plays her entire role in the Jimmy Stewart comedy with her teeth in brace—and she still looks adorable. Princess Grace of Monaco, who was Queen of Hollywood when she left the screen, will return to films a lot different than when she started. Her first picture was "Fourteen Hours" for 20th Century-Fox and her initial scene filmed in New York, had Grace wearing a rented mink coat from Bergdorf Goodman. Her instructions from the assistant director "Don't move around too much you might damage the mini-coat!" Who said wholesome, fun packed movies aren't making a comeback? Both Vincent Sherman who directed Debbie Reynolds in "Second Time Around" and Henry Koster, who megged "Miss Hobbs Takes A Vacation", are up for pact renewals at 20th Century Fox. Sherman has signed for two more — "Drink To Me Only" and "Happily Ever After" while Koster is ready to ink a three-year pact the first of which probably will be the Broadway hit comedy "Take Her, She's Mine" by the husband-wife writing team of Phoebe and Henry Ephron. Busiest man in Africa during the filming of "The Lion" was star William Holden who worked days in front of the cameras. JACK W. CROUGHAN, 2780 W. Stonybrook Dr., Anaheim, Pacific Coast security manager for Sears Roebuck, and a leader in industrial safety programs, receives his tickets and badge for the forthcoming 3-day Western Safety Congress from Beth Fain "Miss Ten Age Driver." Croughan is chairman of the retail trade section for the Congress to be held at the Ambassador Hotel, April 17, 18 and 19 with 1100 area firms participating. Budget Requests Submission Urged The Anaheim United Fund issued public announcement to all Voluntary Agencies performing services in Anaheim that wish to be considered for inclusion in the 1962-63 campaign, to submit their budget requests not later than April 20. Budget requests may be directed to C. B. Miller, chairman, Budget and Admissions Committee, Anaheim United Fund, P.O. Box 405, Anaheim. Joe Shell To Be At GOP Dinner Speaker for the Republican Mens' general membership dinner at the Santa Ana Ebell Club, April 18 at 7:15 p.m., will be Joe Shell, Republican candidate for the governor of California. "Shell will speak on his stand on the basic issues of the gubernatorial primary campaign and those issues which have been injected into the campaign by other candidates," announced Warren C. Proctor, president of the Republican Men. OC State Begins Graduation Plans First meeting of the new 1962 Committee on Commencement Exercises for Orange County State College's third official graduation ceremonies was held recently on the campus, College spokesmen revealed this week. Called by Commencement Coordinator Emmett T. Long, the newly-appointed group is already formulating plans for the largest Commencement ceremonies, in the three-year history of the State College. Approximately 100 seniors will be graduated at that time, it is estimated by Long, who serves as Associate Dean in charge of admissions and records at OCSC. Fullerton, Garden Grove Historical Events Are Topics Historical events of Garden Grove and Fullerton will be covered at the next monthly meeting of the Orange County Historical Society on Thursday. Junior Ebell Club To Elect Officers The junior Ebell Club will convene 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, at the Ebell Clubhouse in Anaheim. Mrs. George Reed, president, will preside. On the meeting's agenda will be the general election of new officers for 1962-63. Mrs. William Matteson, program chairman, will introduce Martin Hinshaw, curator of the Charles W. Bowers Museum in Santa Ana who will present a program on primitive art, pottery and Indians of the south west from ancient to modern times. Mrs. Edward Strand, April tea chairman, will be assisted by Mmes. Arthur Osowski, Carl Osowski, James Osterman, Louis Pace, Robert Paterson, Carl Herron and George Corey. Mrs. Louis Pace will provide Easter theme decorations for the tea table. Speech Workshop A $1,000.00 grant for the first Esophageal Speech Workshop in the United States to be sponsored by the American Cancer Society. Busiest man in Africa during the filming of "The Lion" was star William Holden who worked days in front of the camera and spent his evenings and weekend actively running the Mt. Kenya Safari Club, where the picture was filmed and where the case and crew stayed. Holden and Ray Ryan, Palm Springs real estate man, bought the club as a retreat and have turned it into a world-famed resort spot. Director Jack Cardiff has touched off a real "take-sides" controversy with his declaration that credits are ruinous to the start of a motion picture and should either be eliminated (WHAT?) or put at the end of a picture. The adjectives are flying from Sunset to Malibu and it looks like a real Hollywood Pier Sixer. Then there's the Colorado resort town that already has put in an application for the world premiere of "Cleopatra." Where else but ASP-en!... The eyes of Texas were upon Swedish-born Ann-Margret when the 20th Century-Fox musical star was honored by the Lone Star State's congressional delegation while making a personal appearance in Washington. Ann-Margret presented Sen. Ralph Yarborough with the first copy of the album of "State Fair" music at a reception in the old Supreme Court Chambers. Most of the picture was filmed at the Texas State Fair Grounds in Dallas. Glamorous Dolores Hart wears such a beat-up outfit in "The Inspector" that once while filming in London she rushed from the set (in costume) to her apartment and, forgetting her key, walked down the street back to the studio. A Bobby picked her up as a streetwalker and it took some nimble explaining by Dolores and the studio wardrobe department that the Hollywood glamor doll was merely dressed for her role in the picture... Fullerton, Garden Grove Historical Events Are Topics Historical events of Garden Grove and Fullerton will be covered at the next monthly meeting of the Orange County Historical Society on Thursday, April 12, in the Charles W. Buchholz was walking up a narrow, winding alley when he ran smack into the famed Vienna Boys Choir, in Delhi to do a concert. After conversing for length in German, Buchholz invited the youngsters to watch a scene and then attended, with the cast, their performance that night... Hollywood's most sincere heart-to-heart talk was an interview between "The Inspector" Dolores Hart and beauty columnist Quick Heart. During their first month of operations from two airfields on Ikinawa, U.S. Marine Corps fighter pilots knocked down 209 fighter planes while losing only four in aerial combat. ANAHEIM BOWL — 1925 W.
