AMBASSADRESS LEAVES FOR NEW YORK—With some of her "friends to see her off, Miss Disneyland, Velerie Watson of Fullerton, emplained Thursday from Los Angeles International Airport for New York. There she will fill her roll as special Ambassadress for Walt Disney's Magic Kingdom during the show of the Radio City Music Hall production "Disneyland, U.S.A." that opens April 5. Say goodbye are Goofy, Pluto and the Big B Wolf.
State To Receive Radiation Meters
SACRAMENTO — A tremendous increase in California's capability to cope with the problems of fallout in case of nuclear war is expected in the next six months, the California Disaster Office announced today.
It is expected that more than $400,000 worth of radiation meters will be received from the federal government. The instruments will be granted to the State and to those local governments that meet federal requirements, according to Charles Rainey, Chief of the Radiological Defense Division of the California Disaster Office.
Rainey indicated that the instruments would be contained in the more than 3000 kits to be distributed throughout the state. "This is the largest number of fallout detection kits ever applied for by this State," he said. Orange County has requested 149 kits.
PRESIDENT — Mrs. Angela Ferraris of Fullerton is the new president of St. Jude Hospital Guild. She is a charter member of the guild and has been active in projects since 1953 when the guild began. Installation of new officers will be April 9 at a luncheon.

Art Auction Seen This Saturday

Chapman Grants . .
Two grants totaling $13,640 have been awarded to Chapman College by the National Science Foundation in its new Cooperative College - School Science Program.
DON EDMUNDS, 805 N. Clementine Ave., Anaheim, will an entry car in motordom's toughest road performance scheduled for the end of this month. The Anaheim man pilot a Chevy II in the annual Mobil Economy Run which roll over a rugged course reaching more than 2,000 from Los Angeles to Detroit, March 31-April 5. Edmund veteran of the run, is employed locally as a mechanic.

Speakers Slated for Sycamore PTA Meet
Dean Elmann, dean of the Orange County State College in Fulerton, and William Corser, dean of associated students at Santa Ana Junior College, will be guest speakers at the Sycamore Junior High School PTA meeting March 7:30 p.m.

Religious Tolerance To Be Topic Friday
“Religious Tolerance” will be the subject of the lecture given by Rev. Alexander Humphreys, S. J., on Friday, March 23, at 8 p.m. at St. Joseph’s College, Batavia St. at La Veta in Orange.
Fr. Humphreys joined the staff at Loyola University in Los Angeles in 1953 and is presently head of the Department of Sociology. He received his Ph.D. in Sociology at Harvard and did his doctoral dissertation on the effects of urbanization on the Irish.
The lecture is the third in the spring series sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph and the Christian Family Movement. It is open to the public and the donation is $1.00 per person or couple; students are admitted at half price.
CC Sets Program For Scholarships
Chapman College has announced its second annual full-tuition academic scholarship competition open to students in the 1962 graduating classes of Fullerton Junior College, Orange Coast College, and Santa Ana College.
One student from each college will be selected to receive a full tuition academic scholarship for 1962-1963 at Chapman College.
Deadline for application for this scholarship program is April 15. Additional information and application forms may be obtained from the Admissions Office at Chapman College.
