The image is a black and white sketch depicting two individuals leaning into a window frame. They appear to be in a cozy indoor setting, possibly a cabin or a room with wooden walls. The focus is on their faces, suggesting they are engaged in a conversation or sharing a moment. There is no visible text within the sketch that can be transcribed.
WAITING FOR THE LEPRECHAUN—Adam and his wife, Bess, two main characters in the play "FlibbertyGibbet," (see story) look with amazement at the tremendous harvest the Leprechaun has reaped for their neighbor. They plan to have "FlibbertyGibbet" perform his magic on their farm, unaware that their selfish act can only bring doom to the Leprechaun. This three-act play is sponsored by the Anaheim Park and Recreation.
March Events Slated Leprechaun...
For Newcomers Club
The first of the many activities planned by the Newcomers Club for the month of March was the Couples Evening Bridge Section which met in the Community Room of the Glendale Federal Savings and Loan building. Prizes went to Betty Gasaway, Jim Crotty, Joanne Butts, R. Liebman, Dorothy Mason and Bill Walter.
Refreshments were served buffet style. Serving as Hosts for the evening were Mr. and Mrs. R. Liebman and Mr. and Mrs. D. Mason. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Rushing are co-ordinators of this section. The next meeting of this group will be April 4. Newcomers interested in playing bridge may telephone the chairman.
March 20 will be a "special date" for the Ladies Evening Bridge Section since it will mark the end of the present tournament. On April 17 the new tournament will start with Lee Stromquist as chairman.
The Theatre-goers will leave in chartered buses to go to the Pasadena Payhouse to see Zasu Pitts in the new comedy "Everybody Loves Opal." Reservation deadline is March 15. Buses will leave from the Broadway Shopping Center at 6:45 p.m. Leslie Lambert and Iva Holm are co-chairmen of this section.
The Ladies Luncheon and Card Party will be held in the Roman Room of the Anaheim Bowl on March 27.
Bridge classes will be starting March 16 and new bowling leagues will start in May.
Members have been requested to bring book and magazines suitable for children up to eighteen years of age to the meetings so that they may be sent to the Orange County Library of the Albert Sitton Home for children. Nettie Ferry is the Newcomer in charge of this project.
Anyone interested in any of the activities of the Newcomers Club (Continued from Page One) visit to the place when her great-grandmother was a girl and absolute faith that he will fulfill his promise to return.
The curtain opens with Flibberty Gibbet's tempestous return, accompanied by wind and lightning. In order to be accepted in a community, he assumes the character and dress of a farmer. He able to perform wonder magic; but, if his gifts are used for financial gain because of a greed of humanity, he will whirl away again — this time into eternal banishment.
The conflict is created through the skepticism of the adults Nonnie's world who believe she is too old to have her full of fancies and should learn see things as they are. Only Gramps does she have a stamina. He, too, hears the "music" the wind" which was Flibberty Gibbet's parting gift for all who believed in him.
The musical adaptation is done by George Marx, who portrays Gramps in the play, and Ethel wyn Sutro. "This is the fifth year..."
