To promote the 1962-63 series for the Anaheim Community Concerts, Horace Martinez, who will be remembered as the accompanist for Camilla Wicks when she appeared in concert last year at the Fremont Junior High School auditorium, will speak over Instructional Television. Anaheim Schools.
The opening night dinner for workers, board members and personnel of the association is set for Monday night at 6:30 at the Fullerton Lanes, 1501 S. Lemon, Fullerton, just north of Anaheim City limits. At that time Mrs. David Ferguson of the Columbia Artists Inc., through which artists are obtained for the concerts, will be present. For reservations call Mrs. Frank Stashak, PR 4-6083 or headquarters which will open this week.
March 22 at 8:15 p.m., Pianist, Andree Juliette Brun will appear on the fourth concert of the 1961-62 series at Anaheim High School.
The fifth concert of this year will be Johnny Green with Promenade Orchestra, the bonus concert for next season membership holders.
To Be on Radio
Linda Ho, starred with Vincent Price in the Thomas De Quincey classic, "Confessions of an Opium Eater," has been set to appear on Larry Selig's "Celebrity Showcase." The radio show was taped Monday for national syndication late this month. The film with Miss Ho and Price was produced and directed by Albert Zugsmith for Allied Artists.
He has a better than average voice, which is something that can't be said about many of his contemporaries, and he seems to understand the psychology of the teen-ager.
For this reason Dion, who professionally uses only his first name, has enjoyed some solid hits and been able to build a reputation that should last for some time.
"Runaround Sue" (Laurie LLP) should boost Dion's prestige with the young groups who hang on to rock'n'roll. It includes his best-selling "The Wanderer" and a song named for the new dance, "The Majestic."
"Sincerely, Brenda Lee" (Deca DL 74216) also has tremendous teen-age appeal and should attract new listeners for this attractive and talented young lady. Only 17, Brenda now is a veteran, having clicked with many best-selling singles. This collection is devoted to love songs.

"Are California Public School Textbooks Inadequate?" will be debated by Dr. Steven Raichart and Dr. William Daugherty on Survey '62 Saturday night. The show should be of interest to parents. (Saturday, 7 p.m. Ch.
UCLA and Pepperdine will play in Friday night's NCAA Western regional basketball championship semifinals at Provo, Utah. Shows either or both of these teams emerge as a finalist, the finals will be televised live at p.m. Saturday on Ch. 11.
An original ballet inspired by the Biblical Book of Esther, commemoration of the Jewish holiday of Purim, will be presented on "Lamp Unto My Feel Sunday."
Titled "Face of Evil," the ballet depicts the story of Esther, Jewish girl whose great beauty made her queen of the Persian King Ahasuerus, replacing the former Queen Vashti.
Most of the characters in the ballet wear masks to indicate their concealment of evil, while Esther and Mordecai remain unmasked to represent the openness of innocence.
Lead role is danced by Jillann leading ballerina of the New York City Ballet, who dances barefoot for the first time. (Sunday, p.m., Ch. 3)

Teen Salesmen in Contest Finals
Eight teen-agers have reached the semi-finals of the Orange County Sales and Marketing Executives Club's contest to select the best Junior Achievement salesman in the Orange County District, it was announced this week by Adolf Schoepe, president, Fluidmaster, and chairman of the local Junior Achievement Council.
Aspirants for the title of Junior Achievement's "Salesman of the Year" entering the semi-finals this week are: Jack Freedman, Bill Vance, Sheela Eichhorn, Nancy Gruttman, Tim Klein, Mike Twomely, Kathie Ditchey, and Lonnie Williams. Each was selected from among the 17 Junior Achievement companies as the best salesmen in a company competition held last week.
Each of the eight semi-finalists will make a sales presentation before judges from the sales and Marketing Executives Club. Judges will include Joe Ersick.
