Program Near Winter’s End
Adults Rival Kids In Participation
By BOB O'BRIEN
(Pictures Inside)
With the end of the winter gym program of the Anaheim Recreation Department in sight, the total attendance figure, drawing from all parts of the community is expected to reach a grand total of approximately 28,760. A somewhat surprising fact is that the attendance for adults is about 4,000 less than that of Anaheim youngsters.
A total of seven gyms, all part of the Anaheim Union High School District, were used by the Recreation Department in providing supervised activities for the people of Anaheim.
These facilities were at the following gyms: Anaheim High,

Western High, Savanna High, Magnolia High, Fremont Junior High, Brookhurst Junior High and Orangeview Junior High Schools.
The greater part of 16,000 students use these gyms daily during school hours. They are not idle while school is out.
Between the schools and the schools and the Recreation Department they are used almost to a maximum by the community. They will come up to maximum use when the Recreation Department has funds to provide for more recreation for Anaheim residents.
The gymnasiums in the Anaheim Union High School District would be far from a luxury item if used during school time only. If anyone had their doubts about this, they are easily removed after realizing that these gyms are used not only by students during the day, but that they are also open to Anaheim residents during evenings and Saturdays.
There is no limitation on those who may participate in the department's program. It is open to all residents.
All this would not be possible were it not for the close co-operation between the Anaheim Recreation Department and the Anaheim Union High School District. This co-operation provides for the fullest usage for the whole community.
Six of the gyms listed above (all but Orangeview) are being used in the Saturday Gym Program. The program provides for not only supervision, but also instruction. Two gyms, Anaheim and local girls and contemporary Mon Ami and Jan and Share THAT'S SHOW BIZ.
