ANAHEIM GAZETTE—5 Begonia Society Sets Potluck for March 8 Wayne-Stewart First In response to an unprecedented demand from exhibitors, John Ford's "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance," the first motion picture to team John Wayne and James Stewart, will be available for key Easter holiday engagements throughout the nation, it was announced this week by Jerome Pickman. Compact Original Ground The foregoing quantities are approximate only, being given as a basis for the comparison of bids, and the County of Orange does not expressly or by implication, agree that the actual amount of work will correspond therewith but reserves the right to increase or decrease the amount of any class or portion of the work, or to omit portions of the work, as may be deemed necessary or advisable by the Engineer. The contract documents shall consist of Notice to Contractors, Form of Proposal, Form of Agreements, Plans Special Provisions, and Standard Specifications, all of which are required in the office of the Orange County Highway Department and are hereby referred to and made a part hereof. Plans, special provisions and other contract document forms will be available for examination without charge. Copies of all contract documents may be secured at the office of the Orange County Highway Department, 400 West Eighth Street, Santa Ana, California. Plans special provisions (not including Standard Specifications or other detailed information included by request) must be obtained by prospective bidder upon payment of a printing and service charge in the amount of $5.00, which amount shall not be refundable. All checks shall be made payable to Orange County Treasurer but should be mailed to the Highway Department, 400 West Eighth Street, Santa Ana, California. Copies of the Standard Specifications may be purchased for $1.68 tax included, from the Department of Public Works, State of Orange, or the Highway Department, County of Orange, 400 West Eighth Street, Santa Ana, California. No bid will be considered unless it is made on a blank form furnished by the County Road Commissioner and is made in accordance with the provisions of the Standard Specifications and special provisions. The Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange reserves the right to reject any and/or all bids. The direction is directed to the provisions in Section 2 of the Standard Specifications for the requirements and conditions which must observe in the preparation of the proposal form and the submission of the bid. In lieu of the provisions of Section 2 referring to the State Contract Act, prospective bidders will not be required to be prequalified. Employer payments other than those itemized herein, as defined in Section 1778.1 of the Labor Code, are to be paid in accordance with the terms of the collective bargaining agreement applicable to the type and classification of the workmen or mechanics employed on the project. Overtime, Sundays and Holidays — not less than one and one-half (1½) times the basic hourly rate plus applicable employer payments. The holidays upon which such rates shall be paid shall be all holidays recognized in the collective bargaining agreement applicable to the particular craft, classification or type of workman employed on the project. Cooperate with all collective bargaining agreements relating to the work as set forth in the aforementioned Labor Code are on file and available for inspection in the office of the Department of Industrial Relations, Division of Labor Statistics and Research. Attention is directed to Section 7-1.01G of the Standard Specifications providing for employment of apprentices on the work. Every apprentice shall be paid the standard wage paid to apprentices under the regulations of the trade at which he is employed. Information relative to employment of apprentices shall be provided from the Administrative Officer of the California Apprenticeship Council. Virginia Alvarex shares the romantic spotlight with Jose Aguilar, newcomer to the stage at Padua Hills and a recent arrival in this country from his native Mexican state of Jalisco.
