The Junior Ebell Club of Anaheim was the recipient of a $1000 Disneyland Community Service Award at the 5th annual awards luncheon, recently. Mrs. George Reed, President, accepted the plaque from Mrs. Norman Chandler, honored guest at the luncheon. Similar awards were made to eight Orange County groups, chosen on the basis of necessity and quality of community services performed. The awards are presented to aid local groups in continuing their services to the community and to enable them to initiate new projects which are needed. The report, compiled by Mrs. Donald Smith, Dean of Chairman, which was submitted by the Junior Ebell Club included a wide variety of projects which showed the club's concern and care for their community. The accent has been on youth, with the major project the establishment of a Child Guidance Clinic for the local area. Another youth project has been aid to the Albert Sitton Home for dependent children. Club members have performed many services for the children at the home and with the cooperation of the business community have provided additional facilities such as a barbeque and library equipment. At the other end of the age scale is the clubs work with geriatrics patients at the Orange County Hospital and with the Senior Citizens club. In be come many other projects. During 1961 the club, which 110 members, has contrived 14,561 hours to community ice. Ceramics Course Offered at AHS The Anaheim Evening School is again offering classes in Ceramics and Porcelain instructor will be Mrs. Donn Hoskins. All classes start the week of Jan. 29. WWI Groups Set Installation Veterans of World War I, Anaheim Barracks 1225 and its auxiliary will hold a joint installation lie Pierce, chaplain. The new officers to be installed are: Fred Volz, commander; Charles D. Comstock, Jr.; vice-commander and Harry Freeman, quartermaster. The installing officer will be Dr. Lloyd A. Burrows. Auxiliary officers to be installed are: Leviney M. Comstock, president; Edna Weatherman, Sr.; vice-president; Lorraine Yates, Jr.; vice-president; Veda Dutzi, treasurer; Sally Handel, secretary and publicity director and Lilien Pierce, chaplain. The installing officer for the auxiliary will be Irene Gittins, department ser vice-president of the State of California. Taking part in the ceremonies will be the Fontana Drill Team, under the direction of Violet Krueger. Communism To Be Course Topic Because of the many requests from our citizens for a purely objective course in the present day understanding of Communism, the Anaheim Evening High School is repeating the class entitled "History of Communism" this month starting Jan. 29 in Room I at 7:9 p.m. in the Fremont Junior High School Auditorium. This class will be a twelve week course and it will deal with the "truths" concerning Communism and attempt to foment a greater positive approach toned greater positive approach to and of Democracy and the Democratic processes. James Stavarakes, a La Mirada Senior High School History teacher, is the instructor. A registration fee of $1.50 will be charged and pre-registration will be accepted at the office of the Anaheim Evening High School from 1 to 5 and 7 to 10 Monday through Thursday and 1 to 5 on Friday. Evangelical Church In Third Service The new Evangelical Free Church, meeting for its third service since beginning Jan. 7, will hear Pastor Eric Frohman preach at the 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. service, also teach the Adult Bible class at 9:45 a.m. Rev. Frohman returns to the pulpit this Sunday after attending a district conference meeting of Evangelical Free Church Pastors in Yucca. This was but a few of the many interesting highlights Briar revealed as he spoke on the subject “What has happened with Instructional TV?” In addition to Briar’s talk, Palm Lane students from Mrs. Nammanys 4th grade class presented the play “Chicken Little” in Spanish and sang a Spanish song. Mrs. White’s 8th grade students showed posters, paintings, and graphs and presented a skit on dental health. Mrs. Murray H. Sturmer, president, appointed Mrs. Jerome Hirsch chairman of the rag drive to be held in February. Mrs. Hirsch is also chairman of the Mothers March for the March of Dimes in the Palm Lane area. Mrs. Steve Parabok, health chairman, announced the immunization program for the lower grades will be held Feb. 1. Mrs. Sturmer announced that Mrs. Nammanys 4th grade room won the Room Count banner. She also urged all to attend the Unified PTA meeting at Fremont Jr. High Jan. 29. Bible Conference Begins Jan. 27 The 27th annual Torrey Memorial Bible Conference sponsored by The Bible Institute of Los Angeles, Incorp., will begin this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the 800-seat Campus Auditorium, 13800 Biola Ave. in La Mirada. The Conference will continue in twelve convenient locations through Friday, Feb. 2. The opening program will feature musical selections by Basso John Webb, former concert and opera star; and the Biola Chorale, sixty-voice, concert choir of Biola College under the direction of Prof. Marvin McKissick. Dr. Ralph Keiper will keynote the conference with an address on the theme "Will Christ Return?" Dr. Keiper is director of research for the Evangelical Foundation of Philadelphia and contributing editor for Eternity Magazine. Dr. Samuel H.
