The Woman's World SECTION A, PAGE 3 POLYJOTS There's a big drive on to name the new high school on Magnolia Alan E. Shepard High School in honor of our first astronaut. People have written to the mayor and to Senator Kuchel about it, and even to the newspapers. Just about everybody's been consulted about it except Alan E. Shepard. What do you think, Commander? Shall we blast it off the launching pad and see if it orbits? Now they're hanging radios around the bears' necks in Yellowstone Park. They want to keep track of their wanderings and hibernations because it is feared they are going extinct. It couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of food pilferers. If we don't get rain pretty soon our trees are going to go extinct. Why doesn't someone fire that alleged rainmaker who's been sitting up in the Hollywood Hills all summer and hire somebody who knows something? Junior Ebell Club Sets Lunch Meet As summer draws to a close, Junior Ebell Club of Anaheim members are making plans for a busy year ahead. Members met also in July make covers for the prayer. Anaheim Y-Wives Install Officers The Anaheim Y-Wives installed new officers at an evening pool party held at the home of Mrs. Ruth Brandewie. Refreshments consisting of fingertip sandwiches and frozen fruit salads were served by Mrs. Betty Minkel, Mrs. Betty Holden and Mrs. Priscilla Almich. Mrs. Mary Jo Agren gave a short speech and presented each of the new officers with a lei. Mrs. Barbara Simon is the new president; Mrs. Phyllis Jackson, 1st vice-president; Mrs. Ruth Norton, 2nd vice-president; Mrs. Barbara Fast 3rd vice-president; Mrs. Brenda Dayhuff, secretary; Mrs. Shirley Bolling, treasurer. Also attending were Mrs. Ann Swanson, Mrs. Helen Shoemate, and Mrs. Marge Vetter. The club will resume weekly meetings in September.
