Tax Exemption Lag Reported
Veterans of Orange County are lagging in their filing of tax exemption affidavits and it appears that a last minute rush will be in order, according to Ben Liebermann, county service officer, and Hugh J. Plumb, county tax assessor.
Past experience indicates that approximately 20,000 applications are still to be filed and both county officials warned that exemptions must be filed timely or they cannot be honored, according to state law. The assessor's office will accept claims until 5 p.m. on May 1.
