This two-some has talent by the bundle—vocal, music and comedy... At the MARDI GRAS not only will you be entertained by these two, but also DON’LUCAS and his group... Don is one of the funniest. He can insult you and make you like it... His boys are great musicians... When you catch this show, take a look at the drummer. He is about 4 feet high and a riot without opening his mouth... Plan to go for dinner. The food is great... Their specialties are Steak and Lobster... You may even order both. This steak and lobster combination is the finest... Dinners are served with plump baked potato, oozing with butter, and luscious green salad (with special dressing). Your chef is John Hayden and your host Ed Warrenford. DINNER FROM $2.95 COCKTAILS FROM 4 P.M. 12732 Garden Grove Blvd. If you are tired of the same food day in and day out (even though great) and desire a unique treat, then it's RES TAURANT BALL. I eat here often and love it. Serving Indonesian, Dutch and American (American for the folks who like their rut). Agngs, the owner and charming hostess, is from Holland. She lived in Bali for six years. Bali is in Indonesia and once belonged to Holland. (That's your geography lesson for today.) RESTAURANT BALI is very authentic from owner to chef (he is from Indonesia too). The cute waitresses are Dutch and Balinese and wear their native garb. When you go, try Rysttafel (rice table). This food is like no other type of food that I've ever tasted, therefore it's indescribable. Take my word, it's good. For lunchon, you will be served American and Dutch cuisine. For dinner, American and Indonesian. Go—you'll like... Another excellent, but unique, dining spot is the LITTLE SWEDEN—two places for your convenience: Long Beach and Seal Beach. All you want for $1.50. No one will even notice how much you eat, as you help yourself, and so many dishes. Even homemade pies and bread. The folks here at LITTLE SWEDEN are so friendly and helpful. I have lunch at LITTLE SWEDEN often and am never disappointed... Noted for Steaks and Seafood. Unexcelled American and Continental Cuisine. Dine in our dramatic Black and Gold Room. The Japanese, more than most, seek the rewards of this communion, but gardeners throughout the world recognize its aesthetic contribution to the art of landscape design. You don't need an Imperial Palace, either, to sample these rewards in your own garden. More than one ingenious gardener has created a water garden in a barrel half and planted shrubs around it. And if the result lacks something in scale, it can still be exquisite. When it comes to planting a poolside nurserymen say special care should be taken. Reflection plays an important role and the plant that arches over the water is going to offer more than one which grows rigidly erect. In this respect, the Paper Reeds, especially the dwarf members of the family, are worth growing for the slender, arching reeds and umbrella-like tops. Their habit of spreading out rampantly can be tolerated by a pool, so well adapted are they to the setting. Daylilies on the upper fringe of a pool arch gracefully over the water to reflect their colorful blooms. GARDENER'S CHECKLIST FOR MARCH 30 TO APRIL 5 1. Feed Azaleas and Camellias with an acid fertilizer after they have gone out of bloom. 2. Start a hanging basket of Fuchsias for summer bloom. Two or three small plants can be put in one large container. 3. Pinching out the terminal growth of newly planted annuals will result in bushier plants, more bloom. 4. Vegetables should be started for summer harvest. Many of them are available as seedlings for easy transplanting to your garden. 5. Spray Roses for invading insects and for mildew. Remember that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. School Names New Coaches Varsity coaching assignments at the new Savanna High School in Anaheim have been completed. Irv Kimble, head coach in Kansas for eight years before serving as line coach at Western High, will coach the Savanna grid team. John Fransen, ex-Pepperdine, will coach the basketball team. City Softball League to Open April 17 will be the kick-off date for the spring and summer 1961 softball season in Anaheim. The Anaheim Park and Recreation Department announced applications are now being accepted from teams for the In-Dustrial City, Service and Church divisions. Daylilies on the upper fringe of a pool arch gracefully over the water to reflect their colorful blooms. The feathery Heavenly Bamboo is well suited to the same situation though it should not be planted on the lower edge of a pool unless there is no seepage. Heavenly Bamboo likes moisture but not bog conditions. For close-cropping around the pool, try Carpet Bugle or Baby's Tears. Either makes a lush mat of green that creeps right up to water's edge. And for a tumbling plant that reaches for the water from above, try old-fashioned Catnip with its lavender flowers and easy-to-look-at gray foliage. It can be grown in a large pot set on the rim of the pool. There are other special-effect plantings that some experiment will turn up. And if you run out of ideas, you'll get plenty more from your C.A.N. nurseryman. Botanically, the Paper Reeds are classed as Cyperus. Others mentioned above are: Daylilies (Hemerocallis); Heavenly Bamboo (Nandina domestica); Carpet Eugle (Ajuga reptans); Baby's Trees (Helxine); Catnip (Nepeta cataria).
