J. R. BOLKER, OWNER AND PRESIDENT, BRIGHTON-BILT HOMES
When building expert J. R. Bolker decided to develop Brighton Hills, an $18-million project in Montebello, he left nothing to chance.
A sales office on the project site interviewed hundreds of prospective home buyers. They were asked about such things as home size, floor plans, and—of course—kitchens. A great majority indicated they wanted the features found only in homes built to Medallion requirements.
Concludes Mr. Bolker: “People realize they're receiving value in the Medallion home. That's why our Brighton Hills Homes bear the Medallion Award.”

$1,808,000 INSTRUMENT JOB
Beckman Instruments, Inc., has received two contracts totaling $1,808,000 from the Missles and Space Division, Lockheed Aircraft Corp., for electronic data processing equipment for use in Air Force satellite programs, it was announced this week.
The equipment, being built by Beckman's Systems Division of Anaheim, will be used with two high-speed data processing systems which Lockheed ordered from Beckman under a prior $1,100,000 contract, according to Robert J. Baumann. Systems Division manager.
Baumann said the systems, named PICE (for Programmable Integrated Control Equipment), will be used in the control of all data flowing between globe-circling satellites and the earth.
The PICE peripheral equipment covered by the new contracts, he said, will be used in the processes that send commands to the satellites and retrieve information from them.
The contracts include $1,500,000 for PICE peripheral equipment, and $308,000 for magnetic tape subsystems, which store and translate satellite information.

WHAT'S DOING
Harvey Hendrickson, your Telephone Manager in Anaheim
If you should phone Paris, London, or elsewhere in Western Europe in the next two or three years, there's a good chance your call might go by way of a satellite. That's how fast things are happening in Bell System experiments with communication satellites.
A network of 50 satellites might someday bring you live TV from anywhere on earth as well as carry phone calls.
Our engineers hope to have the first of these satellites in experimental use before the end of the year.
The skills and knowledge called for in this pioneer activity also provide you with the finest telephone service in the world.
I'll bet there's not a housewife anywhere who sometime or other hasn't found she lacked an ingredient for a recipe she was preparing. Or, for that matter, I wonder how many husbands have the right size washer on hand when they try to fix a leaky faucet.
housewife anywhere who sometime or other hasn't found she lacked an ingredient for a recipe she was preparing. Or, for that matter, I wonder how many husbands have the right size washer on hand when they try to fix a leaky faucet.
The men who install telephones avoid situations like these by carrying a full assortment of parts and tools right with them. Their trucks are really tool chests on wheels, stocked with some 400 different items. They're prepared not only for everyday jobs, but for most "unexpected developments" as well.
Are you or one of your friends a program chairman? Entertaining and educational films are available to you, free of charge, for group showings. One of the most recent films added to our library is "SECONDS FOR SURVIVAL". This excellently produced 30 minute film graphically and dramatically illustrates our nation's defense network and the part the Bell System plays in it.
Another film soon to be made available called "THE BIG BOUNCE" takes you behind the scenes with Bell Laboratory and government scientists from the start to the orbiting of the huge balloon used to bounce telephone messages from outer-space to a ground station.
These and many other films may be easily obtained by calling KE 5-1101, your telephone business office.
