Mrs. Blee Installed
Mrs. Carl Blee, of 226 Nutwood St., was installed this week as president of the Lincoln Park Garden Club at a dinner meeting in the Anaheim Bowl.
Conducting the installation ceremony was Mrs. Richard Lutjins, a past president of the club, who now resides in Escondido.
Also installed were Mrs. Joan Clinton, vice president; Mrs. Charles Eatherly, secretary; Mrs. William Spear, treasurer; and Mrs. Charles Abernathy, historian.
Chairman in charge of table decorations was Mrs. Anna Gonzales.
500 Charter Members Goal Of Fund Drive
"Soup Shortcut—Traditional Result"
The north wind does blow and we shall have snow... and now is the time to plan a dinner around a thick, rich, hearty soup. Potato cheese soup, a traditional Canadian food is delightful served steaming from a tureen with a variety of crisp crackers or breads, salad and a substantial dessert such as deep dish apple pie.
Canadian Potato Cheese Soup
1 cup hot water
1 10-1/2 oz. can condensed cream of celery soup, undiluted
2 chicken bouillon cubes
1 9 oz. package frozen French fries
1/8 teaspoon paprika
2 teaspoons instant onions
1/8 teaspoon pepper
3 cups milk
1 8 oz. package process American cheese, shredded
Combine water, bouillon cubes and frozen French fries in sauce pan. Cook until potatoes are mushy, about 5 minutes. Beat until smooth with rotary or electric beater. Add remaining ingredients except cheese. Heat. Add cheese and stir until melted. Serve hot.
500 Charter Members Goal Of Fund Drive
Deadline for charter membership in the Orange County Lutheran Hospital Association has been set for March 10, the Rev. Richard Schumm of Buena Park, president of the association, announced this week.
Mission of the association is to sponsor the construction of nursing homes and hospitals throughout the county.
"Membership is not restricted to Lutherans," Rev. Schumm reported. "It is open to anyone interested in establishing these needed institutions."
The association's goal is 500 charter members. Membership fees are set at $10 for individuals and $50 for churches.
Information regarding the association's membership drive may be obtained by phoning the Rev. Floyd Lawson at JA 7-4056.
PTA COUNCIL OFFICER SLATE IS ANNOUNCED
Mrs. James Griffith, president of the Anaheim Council of Parents and Teachers has announced the nominating committee's recommendations for 1960-61 officers.
They include Mrs. Oliver O'Brien for president; Mrs. Jack Robinson Jr. for vice president; Mrs. Joe Brown for second vice president; Mrs. P. R. Morganstern for recording secretary; Mrs. Dale Schmidt for treasurer; Mrs. Halph Stephens for auditor; and Mrs. Verne Defore for historian.

PTA Honors Civic Leaders
Honored for their outstanding civic leadership, Charles A. Pearson, former mayor of Anaheim, and Mrs. Kendall Magill, Scout and PTA leader, recently received life memberships at the Founders Day meeting of the Anaheim Council of Parents and Teachers.
Mrs. Nichola Freck, life membership chairman, made the honorary presentation to Pearson on behalf of the Council, for his many years of dedication to civic duty.
Mrs. Oliver O'Brien lauded Mrs. Magill for her outstanding PTA work, besides the many hours she has spent for scouting and civic activities, as she presented her with the membership.
Two Courses In Education Open at FJC
Two courses in education, sponsored by the Orange County branch of the University of Chicago, can be condensed into one cup hot water or frozen French fries.
1 cup hot water

2 teaspoons instant onions
1/8 teaspoon pepper
3 cups milk
1 8 oz. package process American cheese, shredded

Add remaining ingredients except cheese. Heat. Add cheese and stir until melted. Serve hot plain or garnished with additional shredded cheese and mince parsley or chopped chives.
Yield: 4-5 servings.
Kids’ Program Is Offered by Church Group
"Chief Yusane" and his friend, "Kalijah," beginning the day will appear each evening through Sunday, from 7 to 8:30 at the Christian Center, which is meeting at the Assistant League Building, 1341 W. Palma Ave.
"Chief Yusane" is really the Rev. John McPherson, who traveled throughout the nation during the last eight years conducting services in schools and churches and frequently attending a pearling as a TV show guest.
With the aid of ventriloquism, art and magic, the "Chief" brings Bible stories to life.
Outdoors sound effects: blacklight backdrops, Indian costuming, two full-size tepees, plus a real trading pot where the children exchange free wampum for gifts, add the atmosphere of the children's pow-wow.

Comely Louanne Rummond is knocking in vain. Doors to the 15th annual National Date Festival and Riverside County Fair at Indio won't open until Friday, Feb. 17th. The 10-day spectacle runs through the 26th.
Features include a national horse show, floriculture, Arabian Nights Pageant, camel and ostrich races, livestock, and countless other attractions.
Two courses in education, sponsored by the Orange County branch of the University of California Extension, are available this week at Fullerton Junior College.
They are "Science in the Elementary School," taught by Herbert Drapkin, which began yesterday, and "Teaching Biology in Secondary Schools," also taught by Drapkin, which opened Monday.
More than 100 courses are offered in Orange County and adjoining northwest areas by the extension service, now located in new quarters in Buena Park High School, Magnolia and Orangethorpe avenues. Information on them may be obtained by telephoning LAmbert 6-3397 from noon to 9 p.m. weekdays.
VFW Ladies Will Each Bring Guest
Guest night will be featured at the February 27 meeting of the Ladies' Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars, at the VFW Hall, Mrs. Opal Walters, president, has announced.
Each member will bring a guest from one of the neighboring VFW auxiliaries.
Films of Floral Points on Garden Club's Program
Unusual floral points in remote Iceland, Scotland and the World's Fair at Brussels will be the color film program presented to members of the Anaheim Garden Club tomorrow when they meet in the home of Mrs. Albert Cranston, 1416 E. Santa Anita St.
The meeting will be hosted by Mrs. Fred C. Edward Mrs. William H. Houte, Mr Bradford C. Jones and Mrs. D. C. Toms.
Narrator of the film will be Norvel Gillespie.

Ebell Fashion Benefit Nears
With pink as the color theme,
"Fashion Confections," the 22nd annual Spring fashion benefit, will be given by the Anaheim Junior Ebell Club, February 25. The color will be carried out in delicate flowers and fluffs of pink net.
The show is scheduled at the Charterhouse. Proceeds will go toward the establishment of a child guidance center in the Anaheim area.
Fashions from Rankin's will be modeled with three members among the models, Mrs. Robert Webb, Mrs. Albert Burton and Mrs. Ronald Frazier.
Wayne's Flowers will complete the Spring parade of fashions with lovely floral sprays.
The special gifts committee has stated $500 worth of the winner's choice of furniture from Mission Furniture of Anaheim will be a special gift this year.
Mrs. Carl Last, chairman of the annual event, has named committee heads, with Mrs. Jack Evans handling reservations.
'Exodus' Billed On City of Hope Benefit Program
Mrs. Jerry Miller, 248 W. Date St., representative of the Sheila Sporn Auxiliary, City of Hope Chapter, has announced a benefit performance of "Exodus," February 26 in the Fox Wilshire Theater, Beverly Hills.
"The City of Hope theater party would afford an excellent opportunity for all to see it, and at the same time help a worthy cause," revealed Mrs. Miller.

Judging was done on the basis of character, appearance and participation in church and school activities.
As "Teen-age Miss" of Anaheim, Miss Hughes will enter in competition with other winners in the Orange District Woman's Club's forthcoming contests.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benedict Henry Shimel of 801 Royal Way, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kerr of 911 Walnut St., Huntington Beach.
The newlyweds are en route to Las Vegas for their honeymoon.
