Rotary Sponsors Service Club on Santa Ana Campus
Special Honors To Anaheim Firm
Tim Wallace of Wallace Tractor Sales of Anaheim was singled out for special honors last weekend at a gathering of Massey-Ferguson farm equipment dealers in Phoenix, Arizona.
About 125 M-F dealers from California, Arizona and Nevada were the guests of the company at a daylong program staged in the beautiful Ramada Inn in Phoenix. They toured the company's Phoenix headquarters facilities, attended a luncheon and an afternoon series of business conferences, and gathered again for a banquet and entertainment program at which dealers were honored for sales and for outstanding service to farmers in their home areas.
Wallace was accompanied by his wife.
Convalescent Unit Opens in Anaheim
OC Cactus Group Elects New Panel
At the November meeting Mrs. Susie Milburn was elected president of the Orange County Cactus and Succulent Society for 1961. She succeeds Mrs. Loretta Pangle.
Elected to serve with Mrs. Milburn were Mrs. Jeann Patton, vice-president, and Mrs. Edith McAllister, secretary-treasurer.
Installation will be held Jan. 4.
Mrs. Pangle announces that for the Dec. 7 meeting members and guests will bring Christmas ideas for home decoration which they have made themselves.
There will be wreaths, door swatches, table decorations, arrangements, etc. Also ideas for gift wrapping.
Since it is Christmas time, there will be a white elephant table. These articles will be sold in place of the usual plant table.

A club name contest is templated, with a tent name of Rotana being temporarily.
The new club will under campus projects and work Rotary committees, interchanging meetings to get better acquainted with the professors members.

Convalescent Unit Opens in Anaheim
An open house review inaugurated the newly completed $300,000 Hillhaven Convalescent Hospital in Anaheim, located at 1130 W. La Palma Ave., across from the Anaheim Memorial Hospital.
Patient facilities at Hillhaven are all on one floor, no stairs or ramps. Extra-wide doors and hallways provide for the transfer of beds and wheel chair traffic. Hallways and bathrooms are equipped with handrails for patients' safety. The ceramic tiled bathroom tubs are free standing, low and easy to get in and out. "Drive in" showers accommodate wheel chair patients.

OC Theta Upsilon Members to Meet
Orange County Alumnae of Theta Upsilon met Dec. 7 at the home of Mrs. Stanley Rogers, 13032 Newhaven, Santa Ana.
The subject of the meeting was the two national philanthropies of Theta Upsilon, Berea College Hospital in Kentucky and Navajo Assistance in New Mexico. Members brought jewelry and white elephants for an auction to raise funds for these philanthropies. Also at this meeting warm clothing and other useful articles were collected to send to the Navajos.

Service Campus
Formation of a Rotary-sponored men's service club is underway at Santa Ana College, bringing to three the number of sponsored clubs on campus.
Kent Soldan of Santa Ana is the new president, with Jeff Wall as vice-president, Jerry Hilton as secretary and Gene Gendez as treasurer. Peter Haven, art instructor, is the club adviser.
Mason Teter, personnel director of the Santa Ana Post Office and chairman of the education committee of the Santa Ana Rotary Club, is working with the new group.

Cranston Opposes State Income Tax Withholding Plan
State Controller Alan Cranston opposed the adoption of a withholding plan for the collection of California state personal income tax. Cranston, chairman of the Franchise Tax Board, stated that California would derive sufficient advantages to offset the disadvantages of a full withholding system.
He also declared, "It would undlessly harass a million individuals who owe no income taxes as well as costing the state $2.6 million annually to implement."
Alpha Omicron Pi Founders' Day
Alpha Omicron Pi collegiate and alumnae members joined in celebrating their sorority's 63rd birthday Sunday at Founders' Day luncheon at the Beverly Hills Hotel crystal room. Attending from the South Coast Alumnae Club were Mrs. Van Woert Smith of Santa Ana, president, who conducted the roll call of chapters; Mrs. Ray France of Anaheim, district alumnae director; Mrs. John Butler of Newport Beach, Mrs. John Beazley of Balboa, Mrs. Robert West of Tustin and Miss Alayne Campbell of Orange.
Mrs. Wilma Leland, national president, was honored guest and speaker.
Alpha Omicron Pi was founded in 1897 at Barnard College, Columbia University, as a national women's sorority. The four founders, now deceased, were Stella George Stern Perry, Jessie Wallace Hugran, Elizabeth Heywood Wyman and Helen St. Clair Mullan. The accomplishments of each of these women were noteworthy, accounting for their recognition in "Who's Who."
Today Alpha Omicron Pi has 67 collegiate chapter and 155 alumnae groups.
Deaf Ladies Hurt In Auto Accident
Two deaf mute women were taken to Orange County General Hospital for treatment when their automobile was hit broadside as they drove through the intersection of Ball and Placentia.
Elizabeth Brown, 37, and Madonna Lucas, 26, both of Garden Grove, sustained injuries in the accident. Miss Brown suffered a possible fractured thigh.

Elect New Officers For County GOP Federation
Election of Branch P. Kerfoot, Corona del Mar electronics engineer, as president of the Orange County Young Republicans federation was announced by outgoing president James B. Keyes of Laguna Beach.
