A8—Anahiem Gazette Anaheim, Thursday, Dec. 1, 1980 The Light Side of Decorating YOUR BEDROOM A bedroom is a place with deep closets, floors overbung with bureaus, and lots of dark under the bed...a place to lose collar buttons, slippers and jewelry. A bedroom needs light, and plenty of it. Majesty and graciousness crown a bedroom with imaginative lighting fixtures. Strips, fountains and globes of light may blossom from valances, canopies, dressing table. Light for reading, for talking, for dreaming, for cleaning... you can dial a Luxtrol light control and enjoy them all... from the same fixture. Good sight and good sense. Send 25 cents to The Superior Electric Company, Dept. 121, Bristal, Conn., for your copy of "The Light Side of Decorating." Center St., across from their former location, has been announced for Friday and Saturday, Dec. 16 and 17, according to Mr. and Mrs. William Visser, owners of this shop for the past five years. "Bill" was born in Amsterdam, Holland, and learned his adept handling of flowers and flower arrangements in his native country, which is noted for this sort of talent. He came to America nine years ago and spent four years in florist shops in Los Angeles and Hollywood and came to Anaheim five years ago. In the years that Mr. and Mrs. Visser have owned the Macres Florist Shop they have taken two first prizes and two sweepstake prizes with their floral floats in the Anaheim Halloween parade and many ribbons and awards at the Orange County Fair. These floats have been outstanding creations of Mr. Visser and well deserve the ratings they were awarded. Mr. and Mrs. Visser said they are grateful and appreciative of the confidence and support they have received from the people of Anaheim the past five years which has made this expansion possible and necessary. "We have outgrown our former location," Visser said, "and with this enlarged store we will be able to offer more and better services to our customers." Mr. and Mrs. Visser have two charming daughters and Bill is a member of the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce, the Anaheim Kiwanis Club and the Elks Club. Lecture Slated By OC Art Group The Orange County Art Association will meet on Thursday, Dec. 8, at 8:15 p.m. in the lecture hall of the Fullerton Public Library. The speaker will be Merton E. Hinshaw, director of the Charles W. Bowers Memorial Museum, Santa Ana. His topic will be, "Have You Met Casein?" During the lecture he will demonstrate ways of using this medium in painting. Hinshaw has been painting seriously since 1957. Before that time his painting was limited to museum backgrounds and later of casts of reptiles, fishes and mushrooms. He studied with Charles Lindstrom, DeYoung Museum in San Francisco. He has exhibit materials in use by museums in California and Arizona and dioramas in the State Capitol building in Sacramento. He has traveled extensively in the Southwest and has a fine collection of Indian pottery. The exhibit for December in the library will be the Juried Show of members' work, depicting trends in objective painting. The public is cordially invited to hear the lecture and demonstration by Hinshaw and to view the paintings which will remain on the walls from Dec. 5 through 31. Alpha Delta Alums Services Held for Businessman Here Charles S. Young, 47, of 2427 Level Ave., Anaheim, died last Thursday at the Community Hospital following a lengthy illness.
