Carol Wiltsie, Diane Johnson Win FJC Medical Scholarships
Two young women from Anaheim, both sophomores in the Fullerton Junior College Medical Assistants program, were presented scholarship awards from the Orange County Medical Assistants Association this week.
Carol Wiltsie and Diane Johnson received awards of $50 each during ceremonies held to install the new officers of the college Medical Assistants Club on Sunday afternoon in the college Student Center.
Miss Fern Christensen, president of the association, presented the awards to the students, installed new officers, and briefly described her organization to the audience. Dr. Elizabeth Wright, division chairman of Life Science, welcomed the guests and introduced Mrs. Marion McDaniel, instructor of the medical assistant program.
New club officers installed fel of Fullerton, treasurer.
Both Miss Wiltsie and Miss Johnson are graduates of Anaheim Union High School. Miss Wiltsie has been active in college Business Leader of America activities and won the essay contest at the regional convention last year. Miss Johnson, winner of a PTA scholarship, has been active in music and played a major port in staging the Pops-in-Tops concert while at Anaheim High.

Marshall PTA Member Drive
PTA membership drive at John Mars hall elementary school will begin Oct. 31, announced Mrs. James M. Powell, president, at the meeting held recently. Mrs. Leonhard F. Mayrhofer, magazine chairman, gave a brief sales talk on the California Parent-Teacher Magazine. Subscriptions may be purchased from her.
Following a movie entitled "Are Manners Important?" several areas of courtesy and respect were discussed in groups and summarized by board members.

Activities being offered the fall include flag football, girls' kickball and many quiet deavors such as checkers, marbles and ring tic-tac-toe. In addition to these, many cultural programs are offered through the Arts and Crafts program in operation on each playground.
In both flag football and girls' kickball one school will be in competition with another in well planned league play. League games in flag footwear will be in play on all playgrounds each Saturday and girls' kickball is slated for Thursdays.
During the forthcoming year playground programs will be conducted by male leaders with female leaders administering the arts and crafts program. Special programs are also planned, beginning with the Holiday festivities.
The Anaheim schools partaking in the recreation program this fall and winter include: Barton, Disney, Edie Franklin, Henry, Jefferson, tella, Lincoln, Loara, Madi Mann, Peter Marshall, Jerry Marshall, Maxwell, Palm Lake Price, Roosevelt, Schweitzer, Sunkist and Washington.

Fairview Hospital Volunteer Program in Fall Orientation
On Tuesday evening, Nov. 1, from 7 to 9:30, Fairview State Hospital will hold their Fall Orientation for volunteers. All persons interested in volunteer service must have evening sessions prior to working in any direct service to patients.
Fairview State Hospital is a treatment center for the care and treatment of mentally retarded located on Harbor Blvd. in Orange County immediately north of the city of Costa Mesa and south of Orange Coast College.
To help with orientation planning, interested persons are asked to notify the Coordinator of Volunteers, Mrs. Ann Crosby, at KImberly 5-9331, extension 525.
Volunteers are needed in many service areas, including: assist with Boy Scout and Girl Scout programs; help in patient canteen; teachers in "Learn to Dance" program, supervision and teaching in folk dancing; assist with religious services and activities in the three faiths with Catholic, Jewish and Protestant chapelins; assist with hospital assist in special projects for adolescent development programs; comedy acts, pet and variety shows (these programs may be given at the hospital for either large or small groups of patients); assistance in various ancillary services with work peculiar to that department; offer driving time and car to transport patients to community events.

Tea to Honor OC Authors
A tea honoring Orange County authors, held in past years at Santa Ana College, will be held on Friday, Dec. 2, in the Spurgeon Memorial Room of Santa Ana Public Library, sponsored by Friends of the Library.
College members of the Friends group will share in the planning and the committee includes Miss Lota Blythe, instructor of creative writing at SAC. She and head librarian Ruth Bradley have compiled hundreds of names of writers in connection with the long-established Authors Corner of Orange County in the college other mementoes are on permanent display.

Sumner to Address Dinner Meet Tues.
Assemblyman Bruce Sumner and Mrs. Sumner will be the guests of the California Society of Psychiatric Technicians at a potluck dinner at Fairview Hospital on Tuesday, Nov. 1. Doctors and nurses from Fairview, Metropolitan and Pacific State Hospitals will attend.
Assemblyman Sumner will speak to the group about the 15 ballot propositions as well as about legislation affecting mental health.
World Art Show On Exhibit at College Gallery
"Art Knows No Boundaries," an exhibition of reproductions of world art, is on view in Chapman College's Virginia Purcell Gallery through Nov. 5. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
The exhibition has been arranged by the Chapman College art department in connection with the observance of 1960 United Nations Week.
The theme of the exhibition is a demonstration of the contributions of all countries to the development of art through the centuries.
Upsilon Omicron Fetes Rushees
Upsilon Omicron chapter of Beta Sigma Phi held a luau recently in honor of new rushees Mrs. Ned Wolford and Mrs. Richard Medreed. A scavenger hunt was the highlight of the evening, with Mrs. Wolford winning the "oscar" prize. Charades were played later in the evening.
Final plans were made at the Oct. 19 meeting held at the home of Mrs. Samuel Butler for the preferential tea held Sunday at the home of Mrs. George Cesped.
The members will visit Orange County Hospital geriatrics ward and take Halloween favors of cologne to the women patients, it was told.

OCMA Woman's Aux. to Host Art Exhibit
The Woman's Auxiliary and the Orange County Medical Association, in cooperation with Charles W. Bowers Memorial Museum, extend a cordial invitation to all Orange County Medical Association members, applicants and their families to a special medical art exhibit at the museum, 2002 N. Main, Santa Ana, on the evening of Nov. 3, 7:30 to 9:30.
This "Ars Medica" is a collection of original prints gathered by the Philadelphia Museum of Art through a special fund granted by Smith, Kline and French Laboratories. The collection depicts, through the media of art, the history and development of the medical profession. Each print has been chosen not only for its quality as a work of art but also for its story-telling value, to illustrate the various categories of medical history and practice.
The artists who have told this great story include Shongauer, Durer, Rembrandt, Holbein, Bellini, Daumier, Gavarni and others.
