B2-Anaheim Gazette (Anaheim, Thursday, Sep. 29, 1980) FASHION IN INDUSTRY—Beverly Brooks of Anaheim, dressed in latest in high fashions, is shown through Quickset Locks, Inc., in Anaheim by Don Anderson, sales manager. Miss Brooks will be one of Mannequin’s Assn. of Orange County models who will show latest fall fashions and sportswear at Orange County Industrial Exposition at Fairgrounds. Exposition opens Oct. 6 and fashion shows will be held Oct. 8-9, the final two days of the big industrial show. Our Lady Rummage Final plans were made last week sponsored by Our Lady of the Rose and continuing through Saturday will be donated to charity. Mrs. Don Dailey, president conducted a meeting in the Anaheim Assistance League clubhouse when announcements were made by the chairmen, Mrs. Russel Anthony, 1575 Chanticleer, and Mrs. Gordon Clark, 312 W. Hampshire requesting articles for the sale brought to their homes or to the home of Mrs. Raymond Heinz 719 S. Indiana. Members who can volunteer to assist at the sale are asked to contact the committee. Mrs. Clark also reported on the recent Rosary Committee meeting, urging members to assist with a project which will distribute Rosaries to Indian and Foreign missions, Juvenile Hall, hospitals and other places of need. Mrs. Steve Kish and Mrs. Joseph White, delegates to "Keys to Our City," reported on the convention. They emphasized the importance of all women of the community to participate in church, philanthropic activities, school, political, welfare and social activities. Announcement was made that any member who can assist with the Well Baby Clinic, held the first Wednesday of the month from 1 to 5 pm. at La Palma Youth Center, should contact the chairmen, Mrs. William Jolivier. Big Brothers Elect Seventeen OC Directors; Charles Blodgett Prexy Seventeen Orange County leaders were elected directors by Big Brothers of Orange County at their annual meeting in Santa Ana At the same meeting, Charles W. Blodgett, general office personnel manager of Hunt Foods and Industries, Inc., of Fullerton, who was recently honored as Big Brother of the Year, was named president. Elected to serve with him on the executive committee are Carl Kalbfleisch and Whitney Drayton of Fullerton who will serve as vice presidents of finance and public relations, respectively; David Belcher of Garden Grove, vice president of administration; and three Santa Anans: A. H. Ecoff, who as retiring president will serve as vice president at large; John E. Koster, secretary, and Harry Knight, treasurer. Board members who were elected to serve three-year terms are Leo Pfankuch and Robert Lander of Santa Ana, Fred Rohe of Placentia, James Penney of Costa Mesa, Raoul Escallier of Tustin, Robert Guggenheim of Corona del Mar, Byron King of Orange, and Wendell Faulk of San Clemente. Directors named to fill one- and two-year terms are Richard Purvis and Dwaine Snodgrass of Anaheim, Garvin Shallenberger and Charles Johnson of Santa Ana, and John C. Cooper of Tustin. Big Brothers is a wholly volunteer-supported agency which renders unique community service by combining the friendship of a volunteer Big Brother with the skills of a professional social worker to help a boy who lacks the guidance of a father. Started in New York City in 1904, Big Brothers has grown into a national organization with one-tenth membership. Board of Realtors Hear Rev. Colbert The Anaheim Board of Realtors convened for a breakfast meeting in the Gourmet Room of the Disneyland Hotel. Guest speaker for the occasion was the Roy James D. Colbert of Long Beach whose topic was "Revealing Reports and Startling Statements on Communism." Mr. Colbert recently returned from visiting ten Communist-dominated countries. He stated that the Communists are now conquering the world and that now over ½ of the earth's population is Communist dominated. Boxer Club Holds September Meet The Orange County Boxer Club held its first meeting of the new season at the Brookhurst Junior High School. The main topic discussed was the club's first puppy match scheduled for Nov. 20. Refreshments were served. Annual Picnic Slated The annual picnic of former residents of Anamosa, Iowa, will start at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, at Upland Park, located on the south side of Foothill Blyd. about one-third of the building over this floor are being formulated and invented. The program chairman for the day was Mrs. Ray Hudson, and the refreshment committee included Mmes. James Wood, Fred Yes, Frank Trujillo, Betty Hammer and Joseph-Wells. Square Dance Classes Tonight Tonight is the last opportunity for square dance beginners to join the beginners' square dance class at Sunny Hills Barn in Fullerton. Conducted by the Citizens Recreation Association, the fun project saw 50 couples learning their Allemande Lefts and Do Si Dos last Thursday night at the first meeting of the group. Anaheim Lions Club members comprise the membership of the association which is dedicated to adult recreation. Anyone is welcome to join the class, with registration at the door. A nominal fee of $1.25 per couple is made. Caller is Jim Enloe. The current project of the Citizens Recreation Association is to aid in the construction of a recreation building in La Palma Park. The necessary site in the park has been selected and a lighted concrete floor has been completed. Upsilon Omicron Elects Princess Upsilon Omicron chapter of Beta Sigma Phi elected Mrs. Samuel Butler as their Valentine Princess at a meeting held recently at the home of Mrs. George Cesped. Mrs. Butler will represent the chapter in the local contest held each year on Valentine's Day. Mrs. Richard Starr was elected to represent the chapter in the international contest. The meeting was also highlighted with a "Pot and Pan Party" held after its cultural program. Curt Brydum was the guest of the evening. Mrs. Starr will hold a party in her home soon to further this ways and means project. The chapter will hold its model meeting for rushees at the home of Mrs. Perry McCluskey on Oct. 4 when a "skit" will be given by Mmes. George Cesped, Raymond Griffith, Joe Dame, Samuel Butler and McCluskey as a fun way to introduce the girls to sorority life. The cultural program was given by Mrs. Butler on "Self Estimate." New Lamb of God Lutheran Church Schedules Events "Worship services, Sunday school, confirmation instruction, and other vital areas of the church program are now under way at Lamb of God Lutheran," the Rev. Fred D. Dommer, pastor of east Anaheim's new Lutheran church, said today. Initial worship services were held last Sunday with Sunday school beginning Sunday, Sept. 25, in the congregation's temporary facilities. Permission has been given for the use of the recreation building of the Hughes Aircraft Employees' Association, Rosslyn at Acacia, for worship services and will be used "until such time as regular church facilities become available," the pastor said. Details of the arrangement were worked out with Ted Griffen, board of directors of the Hughes Employees' Association and with Robert C. Rockman, vice-president of the Hughes Employees' Association, by Herbert Lee Johnson, engineer with Hughes Aircraft, and a leader in the new congregation. Funds for construction of the new Southland Mayors Hosted at Lunch Mayors from more than 50 Southland cities joined with business leaders and representatives of the newspaper, radio and television industries at a luncheon to commemorate new natural gas deliveries from out-of-state sources. In the Pacific ballroom of the Statler Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, the luncheon officially marked initial deliveries of gas from the Transwestern Pipeline Co. of Houston, Texas, which becomes a second major source of supply for Southern California residents. Approximately 600 guests attended the special luncheon sponsored by the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce to salute the importance of the new supply of natural gas, announced Justin M.
