Shapely Sophia Clerico explains California's water development needs to daughter Julie as she puts finishing touches to part of a giant water display now appearing at county fairs throughout the State. The display is sponsored by the Water Facts Library, a citizens' water research and education group. Main attraction of the water display (besides Sophia) is a unique three-dimensional map of California, showing how the California Water Development System will serve millions of people from the northern Sierras to San Diego.
Presidential Candidates Invited to Orange County’s Industrial Exhibit
Special invitations to attend the second annual Orange County Industrial Exposition Oct. 5-9 have been extended to Vice-President Richard Nixon and Senator John F. Kennedy by the Associated Chambers of Commerce of Orange County, sponsor of the show.
In a letter to the two Presidential candidates, Charles A. Pearson, Associated Chambers president, pointed out that a wealth of products manufactured in the county will be displayed under one roof, offering a clear picture of the tremendous industrial progress made in the county in the past few years.
“We believe the exposition will also demonstrate how our cities, the county, civic and industrial leaders have worked together under the free enterprise system to build toward a more prosperous, secure nation,” he wrote.
Meanwhile, plans for the exposition are rapidly taikng shape under the direction of Mike Gould, Exposition committee chairman, and George Colouris, producer.
Gould said plans for various special events the show will feature are rapidly taking shape and will be announced in the near future.
Colouris said county industrials are rapidly signing up for display space in the Commercial Exhibits Building on the Orange County Fairgrounds where the exposition will be held.
