Mr. and Mrs. William Slack of 200 N. Rose St., Anaheim, were feted at a reception honoring their golden wedding anniversary. The gala event was sponsored by their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Slack, 645 Carleton Ave., Anaheim.
A golden anniversary cake centered the refreshment table.
Tonight is the semi-finals for the International Beauty Contest in Long Beach, with finals scheduled for Friday night.
Because of the tremendous and increasing number of Orange County residents desiring immunization shots each week at the St. Jude Hospital at Fullerton, it has been announced that the program will continue throughout the fall, each Friday from 6 until 9 p.m.
A donation of $1 by those who can afford it goes to the hospital expansion fund.

A fall wedding is planned for Marcia Diane Koehler of Anaheim and Warren Wayne Thompson, Anaheim, whose engagement was announced by the bride-elect's parents. Marcia graduated from Anaheim High School and her finance attended Orange Coast College.
Noted Soprano Will Be Guest Artist At Laguna Starlight Concert Series
Marilyn Horne, soprano, will be featured in the Irvine Bowl Starlight Concert, Aug. 27. The musical performance will benefit the Anaheim Symphony Association and Laguna Nursery School.
Miss Horne has just been honored with the leading role in the premiere performance by the San Francisco Opera of "Wozzeck", an occasion of West Coast opera significance.
She has won great accalim in Europe at both the Salzburg and Vienna festivals, and sang with the San Carlo Opera in Naples.
Miss Horne returned to America two weeks ago to get married and to fulfill solo engagements at the Hollywood Bowl and the Irvine Bowl at Laguna Beach.
Tickets for the Irvine Bowl concert may be obtained by addressing "Starlight Concert", P.O. Box 826, Laguna Beach, or at the Boston Music Co. in Anaheim.
Homemaking Arts Big Feature at LA County Fair
Despite the invasion of women into the business and scientific worlds the art of homemaking still plays a prominent role in American family life as visitors will see at the 1960 Los Angeles County Fair at Pomona Sept. 16 through Oct. 2.
The number of overall exhibits have been increasing through the years, especially in arts and crafts, culinary and canned fruits with added interest in hand weaving, table setting and the section for antiques which will display everything from rare cut glass to spinning wheels.

Thelma H. Pearson-On Chapman Staff
Thelma Pearson has been appointed a faculty member of Chapman College.
She has also been on the faculties of Berry College, Mt. Berry, Georgia, and the State Normal and Industrial College, Ellendale, Oklahoma.
Miss Pearson received both her batchelor's and master's degrees at Iowa State College and has done post-graduate and doctoral work at the Universities of California, Missouri and Ohio.
She is a member of the American Home Economics Association, National Education Association, American Association of University Women, and Delta Kappa Gamma, and is listed in "Who's Who in the Midwest."
At Chapman, Miss Pearson succeeds Miss M. Catherine Welsh, who is leaving the college to take the newly created position of Consultant in Nutrition Education for the Los Angeles County Schools.
Mr. and Mrs. LaVerne Parslow, both 77, celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary at Irvine Park with 40 friends on hand to honor the couple. The Parslows live at 601 E. Chartres St., Anaheim.

A thousand and one items show handiwork in sewing, knitting, embroidery and weaving. These include exhibits of white and colored embroidery, cross stitch and pillow cases, lace work, aprons and handkerchiefs, crochet and knitted ready-to-wear, rugs, quilts, edspreabds and afghans, dolls, novelties and handbags, household accessories along wich articles for infants and toddlers. Other divisions include decorated china and textile painting.
Two Local Students In Graduation Group
Janice Krah and Barbara Rentro, both of Anaheim, were members of the first two-year professional nursing class in the history of Fullerton Junior College to graduate in the College Student Center, on Thursday, July 28.
The Nursing Education program is offered by Fullerton Junior College in conjunction with Orange County General Hospital and St. Jude's Hospital.

Carol is a graduate of Anaheim Union High School and has been employed as secretary and clerk for the Arrow Rubber Engravers. The groom is presently with the U.S. Army.
Eta Epsilon Holds Informal Meeting
An informal summertime business meeting was held in the home of Miss Nell Hollar and Mrs. Mary Bates at 2115 Reseda Pl., Anaheim, for the Eta Epsilon, Anaheim chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha.
Members planned the next year's calendar of social, welfare and educational activities.

An organizational meeting of Orange County Lowrey Organ Club was held, with Jack Bowne of Anaheim acting as chairman. He appointed a committee to present nominations for officers at the next meeting.
Over 150 Lowrey owners were present for th meeting.
A musical program followed, Iverson and Roy Meintz presented for further information and reservations.
