Horace Mann PTA To Hear Plans For Coming Year, See Dances
A very enlightening and enjoyable evening is in store for the Horace Mann PTA members when they meet this Thursday evening in the school auditorium. Jack Bowne, administrative assistant in the Anaheim Elementary Schools, will discuss the overall plans for the next school year, and tell about the practices used in the schools to promote original and creative thinking in children.
There will also be several folk dances by Mrs. Hahn's second grade class and the sixth grade classes at Horace Mann.
At a recent board meeting Mrs. Russell Renner, ways and means chairman, told of tentative plans for a luncheon-card party to be held in the school auditorium on May 19th. Plans were also discussed for the teachers' picnic, which will be held at La Palma Park on June
Mom-Daughter Fete For Bethel Group Set
Women's Missionary Society of Bethel Baptist Church will hold its annual Mother-Daughter Banquet May 10.
The affair will be held at Grace Lutheran Church.
New society leaders include Mmes. Hulda Shneider, president; Edith Baudisch, vice-president; Elsi Kwast and Jackie Hartmann, secretaries; Gertrude Urbigkeit, treasurer; Iris Fallon, song leader, and Barbara Love, pianist.

James Grabein, 31, of 553 N. Parkwood, has been initiated as a member of Pi Sigma Alpha, an honorary national political science society, at the University of Southern California. This society is composed of honor students and professors of political science.
Grabein, a senior, is majoring in Public Administration at SC.

'Rush of Spring' Theme at Beta Sigma Phi's Founders' Day Banquet
The "Rush of Spring" is the theme for the Northern Orange County Council of Beta Sigma Phi's Founders' Day Banquet. The banquet will be held on Saturday, April 30, at 7:30 p.m. at the La Cuisine Restaurant in Fullerton.
Table decorations will be blue birds in cages with fresh spring flowers surrounding them. Tau chapter, Anaheim, is in charge of them. Xi Eta Eta, Upsilon Omicron and Chi Pi chapters of Anaheim are 'in charge of the art work on the program books for the evening. Mu Upsilon chapter of Garden Grove is charged of the printing of the programs.
Mrs. Carl Czplanski, sponsor of Southern California Council, will read the invocation. Mr. John Sinclair, recording secretary of N.O.C.C., will lead the group in the pledge of allegiance to the flag. Mrs. Lawrence Myers, president of N.O.C.C., will then extend a cordial welcome to all. Mrs. Jeffrey Millett, vice president of N.O.C.C., will read the annual Founders' Day greeting from Walter W. Ross, the sorority's founder.

Roaring 20s Fashion Show Set April 25
Parents Guild of St. Catherine's Military School will stage a "Roaring Twenties" party April 25 in Anaheim Legion Hall.
The event will feature a fashion show of bygone attire including the flapper dresses and bright blazers of the "lost generation."
Mrs. Carl Writer is chairman of the fashion event and Mrs. Arthur Smith is general chairman of the entire celebration. Mmes. Roy Shumway and Jack Kehoe are in charge of ticket sales.
Fuchsia Grower Speaks at County Meet Tuesday
William L. Taylor, well-known resident of Anaheim, will speak on "Fuchsias as Grown in Anaheim Area" at the Orange County Branch of the California National Fuchsia Society Tuesday, April 26, in the American Legion Hall, 936 N. Lemon St., Anaheim, at 8:00 p.m.
The general public is cordially invited to attend this meeting. Refreshments, door prizes and a plant table will round out the evening activities.

ing' Theme at Beta Sigma Phi Founders' Meet
Mrs. Millett will introduce a men's double quartet from Huntington Beach who will entertain the group with a medley of barber shop songs.
Mrs. Myers will introduce the 1960-1961 N.O.C.C. executive board. This group is Miss Doris Hill, president; Henry Lestman, vice president; Ed Roberts, recording secretary; Fred Handy, corresponding secretary; Lloyd Klein, treasurer, and M. Applegate, civil defense officer.
The council's annual achievement and scrapbook awards will be presented by Mrs. Myers.
Guest speaker for the evening will be Mrs. Logan Wheatley who will give an illustrated talk on "People and Pictures."
The climax of the evening will be the council's "Girl of the Year" annual award to be presented by Mrs. Everett Joyce. This award will be given to the girl that the members of the council feels has done the most to help further the council in all of its projects and is most truly a Beta Sigma Phi.
