Four City Salesmen Win Ford Co.’s 300-500 Merit Citations
Four salesmen of McCoy Motor Co. of Anaheim, B. Lansdown, Joe Doyle, R. A. Whitley, and Leon R. Florence, have won Ford Motor Co.’s 300-500 Club awards, honoring high-ranking Ford dealership car and truck sales in the Los Angeles district during 1959.
William H. Klein, Los Angeles district sales manager, said 300-500 Club membership awards are presented for excellent retail sales performance and added that efforts of winning salesman are of particular significance because they resulted in Ford leading all other makes in sales last year.
Mr. Klein added that the average 300-500 Club member sold the equivalent of 100 new cars and 70 used cars in qualifying for the national honors, and that club members in the aggregate sold more than 3 billion dollars worth of automotive merchandise.

Some 33 million U.S. families use gas for cooking, 24 million for hot water, 24 million for heating homes.

It’s a thrilling job, probing miles below the soil, or from a windy off-shore rig, for the 100 men needed to drill a single well. They’re real men in denim, whether young graduate geologists or beginning drillers—termed “roughnecks”—looking forward to more specialized jobs in the fast-growing new fuel and petrochemicals trades.
