FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 26, 1960.
what's goin' on here?
Ever hear your kids complain,
"What can I do? There isn't anything to do." Ever hear an adult voice the same cry?
Well it seems there's not much reason for such goings-on in Anaheim. A cursory glance at the week's mail unearthed the following tid-bits which should answer just about anybody's search for something to do. And, these things go on all the time, what's more.
Mrs. Gaylord Brown, a member of the Woman's Auxiliary to the California Optometric association was appointed a member of the auditing committee of 24th annual convention of the auxiliary. Fun and business lasted four days at the Miramar Hotel in Santa Monica.
Recognition for service to the Parent Teachers association was made in the form of honorary life memberships to Mrs. Russell Renner and Mrs. Irving Cronin by life membership chairman Eldon Hauck at the Horace Mann PTA meeting recently. Each has served about 10 years.
If you think this has a stodgy sound, uhn-uh. In the first place, Hauck feigned forgetfulness and kept everyone in suspense as to who the recipients were. With a trip to Mexicall to give the so-called "wet backs" — incipient or potential—and their families a little comfort and a little hope in the form of clothing, food, toys and portable furniture. This trip is scheduled for mid-April.
In the meantime they will make a trip to Fresno with as much of a trailer-load of warm clothes, canned and packaged foods (milk and cereal, for instance) as the trailer will hold.
If you'd like to share your blessings in this way, just call Mrs. Gallantine at KE 3-4363. You can either drop your donations off at her home, or she will call for them. More about their Mexican trip later—
Did you know there's a Coin Club in our town? Meets monthly at Community Center, 1104 W. 8th St. Joe Boll is secretary. They have auctions, prizes, refreshments and surprises.
Attendance Award To Highlight BPW Council Meeting

If you think this has a stodgy sound, uhn-uh. In the first place, Hauck feigned forgetfulness and kept everyone in suspense as to who the recipients were. With some (planned) prompting from the audience he finally revealed the names.
In the second place, Mrs. Hauck introduced a comedy skit about the life of a PTA president, "This Is Your Wife." People are still chuckling over it.
If you really haven't anything to do, you might want to take that sweater Aunt Minnie gave you for Christmas—it doesn't fit, for one thing—and a couple of things the kids have outgrown and send them off to Fresno a couple of weeks from now with Mrs. Robert Gallantine. She read about the plight of the migrant workers there and has already made 15 dresses, among other things, which she will take up.
