Allot $795,000 For 1st Buildings At Orange State
The State Board of Public Works has approved release of $795,000 for construction of first buildings on the site of the new Orange County State College at Fullerton.
This money will be for temporary buildings, including classrooms, laboratories and administrative offices which, after completion of the permanent buildings in 1963, will be converted into maintenance shops. Completion of the temporary structures is scheduled in time for the September, 1960, classes.
Construction of the temporary buildings will begin in February on 12 acres of the present 50-acre college site in East Fullerton. The college now has under condemnation proceedings an additional 199 acres of land.
First permanent building will be a six-story science building which, it is expected, will be complete in 1963 and which will house all classes for an enrollment of 2,000 students until additional permanent structures are completed.
Ultimately, it is expected, the school will have 15,000 students.
Planning Unit Picks New Vice Chairman
Lee Morris, a commission member for more than three years, is the new vice chairman of the Anaheim City Planning Commission. He was elected unanimously. Mel Gauer remains chairman of the commission.
Santa Claus Discovers a Lot of Thoughtful Anaheim Youngsters
Santa Claus is discovering that there are a lot of thoughtful youngsters in Anaheim, some alerted to the needs of Santa himself and others who in their letters to the genial North Pole entrepreneur of good cheer and happiness, displays an unusual, and for these times, an astounding unselfishness.
Take Bobby for instance: He writes: "I have been a good boy, but sometimes I was a little naughty. But I promise to be a very good boy frow now on, and I promise not to annoy my big sister Elizabeth and to obey mother and daddy and grandma."
And Bobby is moderate in his wishes: A choo-choo train, a mountain for it, a truck, and a boat trailer will suffice.
Surprise For Santa
In the letters reaching Postmaster Marshall N. McFie in his special Santa Claus Box at the Anaheim Postoffice, this one, written by Rodney stands out like a sore thumb:
"Will you please come to my house. I have a surprise for you."
One of the surprises here is that Rodney doesn't ask for any gift whatsoever. Mebbe that is the surprise awaiting Santa Christmas Eve.
John, 3 years old, is putting a gingerbread man on the tree for Santa to eat if he is hungry. He adds:
"I have tried to be a good boy even when I had a broken leg. Thank you for the toys you gave me last Christmas. We had a lot of fun with my tractor, fire engine and train. This year I'd like a trash truck, a steam shovel and a radar, and a doll for my baby sister."

Potatoes have gone hand in hand with America's development... their nutritional value and resistance to spoilage made potatoes one of the frontiersmen's most important foods.
Today they have gone modern in a variety of forms and uses. They are the most widely used vegetable in the United States and in the world. A rich source of Vitamin C, they are an important energy-giving food.
Most reducing diets include baked or boiled potatoes because of their important vitamins, minerals, and starch, so necessary for people who are losing weight.
