Anaheim Building Permits for 1959 May Top Record There is a possibility that Anaheim may match, even surpass the 1955 building record of $50,648,260. Construction permits for a $2,388,000 housing tract and a $9,000 food processing plant may swell this year's figures to at least that record. Building department spokesmen said Larwin Co. of Beverly Hills will build the 251 home tract at the southwest corner of Ball Rd. and Knott Ave. and Laura Scudder Foods will construct a new plant on East St., south of Orangethorpe Ave. Other building permits issued already this month totaled $300,000 valuation. Annaheim needs an additional $3,588,000 before the end of this month for 1959 to equal the record building valuation set in 1955. In a letter to Postmaster Marshall N. McFie, Regional Operations Director Verne Scoggins congratulated the Anaheim postal employees for their unusually good showing. With a goal for Anaheim for the past year of 32 suggestions, a total of 69 have been submitted to the regional office, more than double the target. "Many of our employees have had one or more of their suggestions accepted for which cash awards have been paid," Postmaster McFie stated, "and we are anticipating even greater interest in the future." In addition to many smaller cash for $35 to Clerk Bosza, $40 to Carrier Evelyn Reynolds, $80 to Clerk Ed. Hudgens, and Anaheim's highest cash award so far of $140 to Clerk Ernest Richards, in the future." Awards to various employees. Murdy Opposes Reapportionment State Senator John A. Murdy, Jr., of Orange County, opposes the so-called Bonelli plan to reapportion the State Senate into a North South division of 20 senators each, contending it would prove detrimental to Southland interests. Senator Murdy asserts that splitting the state into North-South divisions would create more conflict and ultimately would be more harmful than beneficial to the southern part of the state. The Bonelli Plan, in essence, would place an initiative measure on the ballot to be voted on during the general elections of November, 1960. The Bonelli Plan, in essence, would place an initiative measure on the ballot to be voted on during the general elections of November, 1960. The measure would reapportion the representation of the State Senate to ostensibly give the southern part of the state an increased representation. The proposal would give Los Angeles County seven senators instead of the one authorized at present. Orange County would have two senators instead of one. Senator Murdy said the initial harm to come from such action would be to wreck the state water program, which will also be on the ballot in 1960.
