Fullerton Man, Adolph Schoepe, Heads Scout Anniversary Group Appointment of Adolph Schoepe of Fullerton as chairman of the 50th anniversary committee of the Northern Orange County Council, Boy Scouts of America, is announced by Judge Claude Owens of Anaheim, president of the council. The Boy Scouts of America will celebrate its 50th birthday anniversary in 1960. By the close of next year it is estimated that 33,500,000 different persons will have been identified with the organization since its inception in 1910. Judge Owens said. "Our program for youth has extended its influence throughout the length and breadth of our land. It can be found in our nation's most sparsely settled areas, as well as in the midst of our great cities. More than 12 million boys have learned to live in the out-of-doors, felt the thrill of adventure, learned how to survive, and become self-reliant citizens of our great land." "The Boy Scouts of America has left a lasting impression on the life of our nation." Mr. Schoepe, the newly appointed chairman, said. "Scouting has become a vital part of our American way of life. It merits the support and interest of every person adults and boys alike. In celebrating this significant achievement for the youth of our land. We feel this anniversary must mark the beginning of a more aggressive effort to continue the program in its high efficient state and to reach the increasing number of boys who will be available due to our great population growth." Fifth National Jamboree Mr. Schoepe's committee will encourage participation in all phases of the national program, develop suitable local programs and encourage unit and individual participation in all golden anniversary activities. Anaheim Boy Scouts, Explorers and adult leaders will be among the 52,000 expected to camp together at the Fifth National Jamboree. This will be held on a 2,000-acre camp site at Colorado Springs, Colo., within sight of Pike's peak from Friday, July 22 through Thursday, July 28, 1960. Nortronics Within 3 Years Will Have 3,600 Employes In the next three years Northrop Corporation's Nortronics Division, Anaheim's largest employer, will double its present payroll to 3,600 employees, according to Edward W. Warnshuis, chief applications engineer for the firm. Warnshuis made the announcement during an address before the Southwest Anaheim Kiwanis Club, meeting at Disneyland Hotel. Warnshius directs Nortronics' market research and marketing operations. Nortronics turns out the airframe, special mobile launchers and loaders for the U.S. Army's lethal air defense missile, The Hawk. Delayed Enlisting'Sought by Marines Master Sgt. Sherman T. Wicker, NCO, in charge of Marine Corps Recruiting in Northern Orange County, announced the Marine Corps has an unlimited number of openings in the "Delayed Enlistment" program. Under this program qualified young men are allowed to enlist in the Marines now, but are not required to begin their active duty for up to 120 days. Pallein Top Writer At Beckman Plant Appointment of John H. Pallein as sales promotion writer for the Scientific and Process Instruments Division of Beckman Instruments, Inc., Fullerton, is announced by Robert E. Klees, manager of advertising and sales promotoin. Pallein is assigned to creation of literature covering all products of the division, which develops and manufactures electronic instrumentation for scientific laboratories and industrial process monitoring and control. Pallein is a Fullerton resident. Anaheim Chosen For Radio Show Anaheim has been chosen as the subject of a half-hour nationwide Columbia Broadcasting System radio broadcast Jan. 5. Discussed will be the problems of a city with a rapidly mushrooming population. CBS representatives have been in Anaheim the past few days interviewing civic, social and religious leaders on "how newcomers have adapted to Anaheim, and how the city has adjusted to its expanding population." Master Sgt. Sherman T. Wicker, NCO, in charge of Marine Corps Recruiting in Northern Orange County, announced the Marine Corps has an unlimited number of openings in the "Delayed Enlistment" program. Kuchel of Anaheim made a plea for more interest by citizens in federal government affairs. "Government expenditures should be examined closely," he said. "I believe in progress that we have to spend money in various fields, but you should make it a New Year's resolution to take more interest in your federal government."
