Choirs to Join For 'Messiah' Four distinguished soloists, choirs totaling 90 voices, and a full symphony orchestra will team up on Sunday, Dec. 6, to present twin concerts of Handel's Messiah in Whittier and Fullerton. The concert of traditional Christmas music, being given on a larger scale than ever before attempted locally, will be presented first at 4 p.m. in the Whittier Union High School auditorium and then again at 8 p.m. the same day in the Fullerton Union High School auditorium. Participating are the combined choirs of Fullerton Junior College and the Northern Orange County Chorale and the Whittier Symphony Orchestra. Kenneth Helvey, who directs both choral groups, will direct the entire presentation for the Fullerton performance and Ruth Harldson, director of Whittier Symphony Orchestra, will direct the entire group for the Whittier presentation. Soloists are soprano Olive Shepherd of Whittier, tenor James Rogers of Fullerton, contralto Virginia Jaeger of Huntington Park, and bass Jerold Shepherd of Whittier. The same evening the Homecoming dance will be held in the Student Center with a Marquee theme. Highlight of the evening will be the crowning of the queen and her court. The Harmonaires will provide music. The next day, Thanksgiving Day, at 1 p.m., the annual Santa Ana-Fullerton JC football classic will be held in the Santa Ana Bowl. The rivalry is the oldest among California junior colleges, dating back to 1921. Homecoming activity comes to a finale the next meeting at 8 p.m., as the alumni meet the varsity in a basketball game in the gymnasium to kick off the basketball season. OCC Students Going To France for Study A year of study at the Institute for American Universities in southern France is being experienced by Orange Coast College students. Nancy Britton, 2461 Zenith Ave., Santa Ana, and Antoineette Dittrick, 255 Nyes Place, Laguna Beach, are both majoring in humanities. Orange Coast is among 49 American colleges and universities represented at the institute. Manufacturing Firms Assist OCC In Electronic Technician Survey Results of a survey taken by the Orange Coast College electronics faculty to determine essental skills and abilities of an electronic technician is being compiled and studied by the college. Fourteen firms cooperated with the college in making the survey, according to S. T. McNeal, OCC electronics instructor. Results will be used by the coluge in evaluating its own technical education program as related to industry's needs. Summaries of the results will be sent by OCC to all electronics training instruc-tors in Orange County junior colleges. Three former OCC electronics technician students graduated this past year with bachelors degrees from Cal-Poly, are employed in electronic research firms in the community.
