Navy Mothers Hold Dessert Card Party
Members of the Anaheim Navy Mothers Club 841 attended a dessert card party at the lovely La Habra home of Mrs. Margaret Hart, vice-commander.
The group played bridge, pinchhile, canasta and bingo. Among those present was Mrs. Lilla Hodges, state organizer.
Any mothers who have sons now serving or have seen service in the Navy, Marines or Coast Guard are welcome to attend the meetings, states Mrs. Gay Ingram, adjutant.
Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of every month. More information may be obtained by calling Mrs. Ingram at KE 5-3509.
B'nai B'rith Women To Hold Fashion Show-Membership Tea
The Covenant Chapter of B'nai B'rith Women, 1015, will sponsor a fashion show for a membership tea Nov. 18 at 8 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Max Geffner, 1583 Tonia Lane, Anaheim.
In a setting of colorful autumn foliage and flowers, professional models will show the latest styles from Loretta Fashions.
Tea sandwiches, cakes, canapes and coffee will be served as well as tea.
Membership chairman is Mrs. Sidney Taback, who is ably assisted by Mrs. Jack Mahler, Mrs. Albert Gudes, Mrs. Jack Fogle, Mrs. Lee Brown, Mrs.

The Emblem Club of Bu Park will hold a Hawaiian Saturday at the Anaheim Pavilion on Lincoln Ave. beginning 7 p.m., it has been announced by Mrs. Jacqueline Smith, chairman for the club.
Members, many of which Anaheim residents, have ready sold 250 tickets for affair.
Hawaiian dances will be featured and authentic Polynesian foods, prepared by members will be served. Awards donated by Buena Park merchants will be given.
Proceeds from the luau benefit the Community Service Fund.

Palm Lane Parents Plan Buzz Session
The Palm Lane Parent-Teacher Association will hold a "buzz session" at its meeting tonight at Palm Lane School. Parents will meet in the kindergarten room for a brief business meeting and divide into discussion groups, each group dealing with a different subject and attended according to individual preference.
Group leaders are: the Rev. R. L. Spangler, adult education counselor; Miss Louise Reynolds, speech consultant; Anaheim Elementary District; Dr. May Rich, psychologist; Anaheim Elementary District; Betty McDonald, assistant curriculum consultant; Anaheim Elec.
Volleyball Games Offered for Women
It's strictly a woman's world each Tuesday night at the Brookhurst Junior High Gym from now on, as the Park and Recreation Department adds a "women only" date to the scheduled evening volleyball offerings.
Beginning Nov. 17, the Brookhurst gym will offer recreational volleyball activities to all interested local women from 8 to 10 p.m. The women will be able to receive limited instructions in fundamentals from Recording District; Miss Virginia Kidder, music consultant; Anaheim Elementary District; William Nicholson, assistant principal of Palm Lane School and Wilfred Edelbrock, principal of Palm Lane.
Mrs. Robert Thomas, program chairman, has stated that this program is designed to give each parent an opportunity to meet with people who help direct the educational program of the children.
Mrs. William Lippold announced at a recent board meeting that PTA membership in the school now stands at 865 with a school enrollment of 955. Room winners for the membership drive were Mrs. Colvin's first grade class with 184 per cent and Mr. Finn's fifth grade class with 163 per cent.
Mrs. James Williams, welfare chairman, stated that the PTA and Palm Lane children are presenting five baskets to needy families this Thanksgiving. The Association will furnish the turkeys while the children will bring canned goods to school. Monday, Nov. 23, and Tuesday, Nov. 24, to fill the baskets.
There will be a "Hoe-Down," with square and round dancing, a surprise program and an old fashioned "Box Supper." Saturday, Nov. 21, at Katella auditorium.
Concert Tickets Now Available
The Orange County Philomene Society announces tickets are now available the second event of the scription Series, occurring Saturday evening at 8:30 p.m. Nov. 21, at Orange Coast lege auditorium.
The program for this significant evening of music, will devoted to the "World Opera" with Marjorie Berman, dramatic soprano; Ned Romero, operatic baritone singing solos and duets; "Herodiade," Massenet; Marriage of Figaro; Mo and "La Traviata," Verdi companied by the orchestra Frieda Belinfante, conductor. The orchestra numbers will include the Overture to "Donnon," Thomas; "L'amleo F Mascagni; Prelude to the end Act of "La Traviata," M and the Ballet Suite "Faust," by Gounod.

A toy sale, sponsored by the Council for Catholic Women of St. Anthony Claret parish, will be held on Nov. 30, and Dec. 1,
in the old bowling alley at 126 S. Los Angeles St., Anaheim.
Mrs. Pat Olson, chairman of the sale, has announced that both new and good used toys will be available at bargain prices. A large selection of dolls, with wardrobes, will be a main feature of the sale. The public is invited to come in and browse around. All proceeds of the sale go to the parish building fund.

Chi Pi's Meet
In Lestman Home
The fourth meeting of Chi Pi Chapter, Beta Sigma Phi sorority was held recently at the home of Mrs. Henry Lestman, on Broadway, Anaheim.
The meeting was called to order by the president, Mrs. William Hall.
The cultural program was dispensed with for this meeting since the group had spent several hours prior to the meeting working on the float which the four Anaheim chapters of the sorority entered in the Halloween parade last Saturday night. The float subsequently won the President's Trophy in the parade.

Begins Saturday
The Anaheim Symphony Orchestra will present the first concert of the 1959-60 series Saturday evening in Anaheim High School auditorium at 8:15 p.m.
A program of arias and light operatic songs will be presented under the direction of Eugene Ober.
Guest artist will be Stephen Kamalyan, noted baritone soloist. He will sing arias from operas by Leoncavallo, Bizet, Massanet and Gounod.

Mary E. Snyder, of Pasadena, noted weaver, teacher and lecturer, will speak to the South East Handweavers Guild at 1 p.m. today in Corona del Mar South Center, 5th and Iris Sts.
She will discuss color and types of yarn in combination, and she will show colored slides on the work of weavers she visited on the East Coast last summer.
A workshop is scheduled for this morning at 9:30 led by Miss Snyder.
HOLIDAY WORKSHOP
Unusual and attractive, but inexpensive holiday gift wrappings, recipe exchanges, table centers, etc., will be featured in the Holiday Workshop beginning today at 10 a.m. for four weeks at the Optimist Clubhouse and sponsored by the Anaheim Park and Recreation department.
Homecoming at SAC Exciting For Alumni
Homecoming was but a memory this week at Santa Ana College but it proved an exciting experience for returning alumni and Queen Susan Shinkel and her princesses, Roses Kokx of Orange and Tustin, Della Kahn of Santa Ana and Judy Warnke of Santa Ana.
Miss Shinkel, '58 graduate of Tustin High School, was sponsored by the campus Don Lions Club. She was crowned after the Homecoming parade at Friday night's football game and reigned over Saturday reunions and the Homecoming Dance.
A large group of former instructors joined present instructors and former students for eight class reunions in the Neally Library. Miner, Whitford, '34 student president and poultry ranch owner in Orange, served as alumni chairman. Alumni were present from virtually all years since the college was founded in 1915, with honors for the longest distance travelled going to a pair of 1934 classmates, Lt. Col. Tom Cole of Panama and Ray Forrest of Walla Walla, Wasli.

Fremont Instructor In Artists' Series
Marvin Fennema, lyric tenor and music instructor at Fremont Junior High School, will be guest soloist in the second of four outstanding programs included in the Artists' Series at Santa Ana College.
The program, entitled "Rhythmic Moods in Song," will be presented Dec. 1 in Phillips Hall on the campus starting at 8 p.m.

Brenner, former SAC student, the presentation will include music from Brahms, Falla, Ravel, Gershwin, Still, Burleigh, and Youman.
Miss Brenner is herself a charming stage personality who sings in 12 languages and sings mezzo-soprano in a three octave range.
Dramatic tenor Conrad Shultz of Santa Ana will appear during the evening program with serious selections.
Other singers include Helena Mawson, Santa Ana, who is a leading contralto and Kemeth Akin, Santa Ana, a former conductor of the Santa Ana Cantando Club and musical director of First Christian Church of Santa Ana.
Piano solos will be presented by Edna Ahorn, Helen Fackiner of Anaheim and Betty Stockwell.

Miss Brinkman won the 1959 Western Regional Metropolitan Opera auditions. She has sung leading roles in Jan Popper Opera productions, also under Ernest Gebert. Mrs. Allan Wisser, Civil Defense chairman of the Anaheim Junior Ebell Club, has announced that the Bloodmobile will be at the Ebell clubhouse Nov. 27 from 2 to 6:30 p.m.
Members will donate blood and the general public is welcome to make contributions also, she states.
