Ferguson, who lives at 3254 West Sunview Dr., Anaheim, and who is principal at Buena Terra School, centrally School District, has much to reminisce about. Such as vivid recollections of "The Year of the Big Flood" in 1938 when the Santa Ana River went on a death-dealing, property-loss rampage. The Ferguson family then lived on the south side of Crescent Ave., half-way between Holder and Miller Aves., and the home was characterized by palm tree landmarks. The neighborhood which was mostly fields of alkali in those days, boasted a bustling airfield. The letters, "Anaheim Airport" are discernible yet on the side of a barn still standing in the Buena Plaza area. Traces of Flood The flooding water from the torrentially-rising river took the lives of many persons in Anaheim and through the Stanton and Highway 39 draw, traces of which can still be detected on the south of Buena Park. Flood waters reached the front yard of the Ferguson home, but did not get into the house. Some older houses show the effects of the accumulation of silt left by the receding waters. In most instances basements and underneath foun-dations had to be cleaned out following the flood. As a lad the problem of transportation didn't worry the school principal-to-be unduly. When the youngster was in the third and fourth grades, the family had moved to Hawaiian Gardens. They discovered their home was across the street from the Bloomfield District boundary which necessi-tated a long trek into Artesia where the old brick schoolhouse was located in the north part of town, near Artesia avenue. Later, the family moved to a house west of Euclid on Lincoln Ave., where he rode his bicycle to Horace Mann school on Palm Ave., in Anaheim. School problems do not change too much as the years move along, the principal notes. Principal Ferguson, besides being a former pupil of Centralla district, worked for two summers with the recreation program at Buena Terra School. This fall he came to Buena Terra from the Little Lake District, near Santa Fe Springs, where he taught for several years. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Quincy Ferguson, widely-known residents of the Anaheim-Cypress area, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at their home in Anaheim. A fourth youth, 16, was surrendered by his parents. Billy Dean Miller, 24, of 1121 S. Poplar St., Santa Ana, told authorities the suspect threatened him with a knife before letting him out of their car on S. Bristol St., in Santa Ana. He added that they robbed him of $3. Stanton Police Officer George Boudreau recognized the suspect's car from a police broadcast and followed it to a supermarket at Ball R. and Magnolia Ave. After summoning aid from sheriff's deputies they arrested Armando (Dan) Tully, 17, of 10611 Chamberlain St., Anaheim, who, police say Miller identified as one with the knife; Bobby Barnett, 18, of 108 E. 9th St., Santa Ana, and Gerry E.
