B2 - Anaheim Gazette Grandmothers Club Will Hear Report The Anaheim Grandmothers Club, 380, will hold its regular monthly meeting Tuesday, Nov. 17, at the Home Savings and Loan Recreation Hall at 211 E. Center St. Mrs. Catherine Howard will report on the National Convention in New York last month. All members are urged to attend. World War I Group Will Hold Bazaar Anaheim Barracks 1235 Veterans of World War I and its auxiliary will hold a bazaar at the Anaheim Legion Hall on Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 7 p.m. A potluck dinner will be served at 6 p.m. to which all veterans of World War I and their families are invited. Tall Tales and For This Year's Sixty beautiful floral floats on Jan. 1, will be designed to the year's theme, "Tall Tales and True," according to Tournament President, Raymond A. Dorn. The theme was chosen from 5,000 suggestions sent in from parts of the country, the winning idea being submitted by E. Swanson of Whittier, Calif. Some of the themes of the party have been "Dreams in Flowers," "Adventures in Flowers," "Moodies in Flowers," and "Books in Flowers." "The 1960 theme will give float sponsors a chance to en Servite Guild Sets Nov. 21 Fashion Show The Servite Mothers Guild of Servite High School will present "Holiday Fashions" Nov. 21 in the La Cuisine Restaurant in Fullerton. The benefit luncheon-fashion show will feature fashions from the showrooms of Orange County merchants and will be modeled by the Mannequins Association of Orange County. With this opportunity for great diversity, this year's procession should have some of the finest floats in the Tournament's history," said President Dorn. Some internationally famous person, who will be selected as grand marshal, will ride in an open auto at the head of the parade. Following closely behind will be the vehicle carrying the Tournament president. Then will come the queen's float on which will be the Rose Queen and her six princesses. Twenty bands from all points of the United States, including musical organizations from Rhode Island, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Louisiana, will furnish the music for the world-famous event. More than 200 equestrian units will participate in the Rose Parade. In this number will be several of the nation's best mounted posse groups. Anaheim Girls Honored at UC Two Anaheim girls were honored at a special reception held for honor students at the University of California at Santa Barbera. Doris Sonnie, daughter of Mrs. Evelyn Sonnie of 400 N. Resh St., dean's honor roll and scholarship, and Sharon L. Troutman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Troutman of 420 Parkway, honors-at-entrance, were among the entering and returning students who were honored. Students recognized at this assembly included 108 on the dean's honor list, 58 honors-at-entrance-entering freshmen who have compiled exceptionally high scholastic records in high school, 118 holders of UCSB scholarships and 51 winners of California State Scholarships. Centralia Studies Improvement Plans Members of a newly formed committee from Centralia School P.T.A. met with Centralia district administrators to study a proposed project to beautify the schoolgrounds. Headed by Mrs. Russell Neiderman, resident, the committee included Mrs. Michael Gullon and Mrs. Gailard Larkowski. Also present at the meeting were Glen H. Dysinger, Sr., superintendent; Palmer G. Campen, assistant superintendent of business; Kenneth Holland, principal at Centralia school; Herbert E. Bass, supervisor of buildings and grounds and Otis Bass, groundsweeping foreman. Students Show Interest in Youth Concert Proof that boys and girls Centralia School district preciate cultural advantage when offered them was denced by the number of quests for tickets to the Orange county "Symphony for Young concert under the baton of Frieda Belinfante," conducted. Two bus loads of fifth sixth graders attended the cert on a "first come, serve" basis for the 100 ticket allotted the seven schools in district, out of approximately 150 who indicated their desire to participate.
