Asks for Support
Of United Fund
Judge Claude Owens, president of the Northern Orange County Boy Scout Council, issued a letter this week to the parents of the 2,521 Scouts and the 904 Scout leaders of the United Fund area for Anaheim and the Western Cities of the Anaheim Union High School District, urging their support of the $225,000 United Fund Appeal.
In his letter, Judge Owens advises, "The Boy Scouts of America is one of the United Fund Human Service Groups which is helping to meet the youth need in this expanding area. We are doing this by organizing new Sponsoring Institutions, such as churches, schools, parent groups and civic organizations to bring the Scouting program to hundreds of additional boys."
Other youth organization among the 14 participating groups in the local United Fund are the Anaheim YMCA for both boys and girls work, Girl Scouts, and the Camp Fire Girls.
Judge Owens indicates the Boy Scout Movement has grown fast in this area during the past three years than almost any other Council in the four western states, and has had the largest percentage of growth during the first quarter of the current year than any of the 52 Boy Scout Councils in the western state. He also notes that 50 per cent of the membership of the Local Scout Council is in the Anaheim
