Orange State College Gets Additional School. From 1948 to 1953 he served as minister of youth for the Pasadena Council of Churches.
In 1948 Becker joined the staff of Pasadena City College as part-time instructor in philosophy history of religion. After in various capacities, he named counselor in 1956, he held until his recent tion.
According to President W. B. Langadorf of Orange County State College now serving the Anaheim area, a dean of students and a business manager have recently been added to the staff of the college. On July 1 there also were added an associate dean of admissions and Records, an evaluations technician, and an accounting technician.
Coming to the college as dean of students is Ernest A. Becker from the Pasadena City College counseling service. Becker has a wide and varied experience Upon his graduation from Amherst College in 1936, he entered the editorial department of the New York Daily News, in New York City. Then, for a year, he was financial analyst with Dun and Bradstreet. In 1938 he entered Union Theological Seminary in New York City, during which time he founded and edited the Union Review.
From 1940 to 1942 Becker was at the Lucknow Christian College in India where he was an instructor in physical education and journalism. At this college he founded the School of Journalism. Also, he was a news commentator for the All-India radio network.
Becker returned to theological seminary at Hartford, Connecticut, in 1942 and received his bachelor of divinity degree in 1943. He was ordained to the Congregational ministry in 1944. For four years he served as pastor of the First Congregational Church in Lee, Massachusetts.

Jesse A. Biaer
Funeral services for Jesse A. Bigger. 71, of 833 S. Claudina St. will be held in the chapel of Backs-Troutman and Kaulbars tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. A. J. Caseboer will offer prayers. Burial will be in Fairhaven Memorial Park. Mr. Bigger was born in Kansas and had lived in Anaheim five months. He was 71. He died suddenly at his home Tuesday after a short illness. He is survived by his wife, Frances, one son, Jesse Jr. of Boise Idaho, two daughters, Mrs. Shirley Bickett of Anaheim, and Mrs. Francis Stewart of Idaho, eight brothers and one sister and several grandchildren.
John Frykman
Funeral services for John E. Frykman of 118 N. Resh St. were held Monday in the chapel of Backs-Troutman and Kaulbars Mortuary with the Rev. Arthur Stevenson officiating. Burial was in Melrose Abbey Mausoleum. Mr. Frykman, 78, was born in Sweden and had lived in Anaheim for eight years, coming here New York. He is survived by his wife, Sigrid, one daughter, Mrs. Osborne of Anaheim, and one nephew.

Julia Ann DeBoer
Funeral services for Julia DeBoer, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harland DeBoer Jr., were held privately in the chapel of Backs-Troutman and Kaulbars Tuesday morning. The Rev. Arthur Stevenson officiated and interment was in Baby Land at Melrose Abbey Cemetery. The infant, who died Saturday, is survived by her parents, three sisters, Diane, Elizabeth and Cynthania, and a brother, Mark. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Clarence E. Ochs of Anaheim and Mr. and Mrs. Harland DeBoer, Sr. of Minnesota.
William Thompson
Funeral services for William Thompson, 70, a native of New York and a resident of Anaheim for ten years, were conducted Tuesday at Hilgenfeld Mortuary with the Rev. Dan R. Kennedy, associate pastor of Anaheim First Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in Melrose Abbey Cemetery. Mr. Thompson, who lived at 300 S. Stanton Blvd. died at McKenzie-Willamette Memorial Hospital in Springfield, Ore. He and his wife had been in an auto accident in Oregon. She is still hospitalized. Besides his wife, he leaves one daughter, Mary Parks of Inglewood.

Becker has served as president of the Pasadena Education Association, has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Pasadena Citizens Council for Planning. In 1954 he received his Master of Arts degree from the University of Southern California School of Religion and is working now toward completion of the doctoral degree.

Filing the position of business manager, is Jack E. Lyons of San Francisco. Lyons has served during the past year as director of the San Francisco State Foundation and from 1958 was state college analyst for the California Department of Finance.
