EDITORIALS Good Government Is Endorsed Congratulations to Councilman A. J. Schutte and to Councilman Glenn Fry on their re-election to the Anaheim city council. These incumbents ran on a joint platform of their past performance and proof by publishing Anaheim City's tax rate schedule. "You Have Good Government, Why Change?" was their slogan. Their joint statement, as mailed to all voters and published in The Anaheim Gazette last week pointed out that bond issues for parks are not necessary and that their "no cost" program will buy parks and playgrounds in the shortest possible time. "There is no substitute for successful experience," they stated in their appeal to the Anaheim voters and evidently the voters felt the same way about it. If you pay through impounds you never see this tax breakdown. STUDY IT. Note that the school tax is $3.60 while the Anaheim City tax is only $1.10 Growth demands have forced this high tax on the school districts. A. J. Schutte and Glenn Fry believe in using what we have seven days a week, so the city has purchased park sites adjoining school sites so that children use the playground park five days a week during school and the park and playground are available during the weekend. This amounted to, in purchase of land, a capital saving of $259,-000 in 1957-58 to the school districts. Schutte and Fry promise to continue this tax saving program. These park sites cost you NOTHING in taxes. It has been proposed that you vote bond issues for which you will be taxed heavily. Councilman Fry and Schutte are opposed to a bonding plan for increasing park site development as long as the city can provide them with no cost to you. Anaheim children must have parks and playgrounds. This no cost program will buy parks and playgrounds in the shortest possible time. IDA M. LATTIN Ida M.
