Christian Endeavor Delegates Meet Here
The second quarterly executive meeting of the California Christian Endeavor Union's 1957-1958 term was held recently in the Evangelical United Brethren Church, 800 So. Lemon Street, Anaheim. About 60 members attended, including state officers, presidents and representatives from the 19 Christian Endeavor Districts.
A general session was opened at 1:15 p.m. by the California President John Day. County presidents and regional vice presidents met at 3:45 p.m., and committee meetings were held at 4:30 p.m. A banquet was held at 5:45 p.m. and an inspirational meeting at 7:30 p.m.
Florida Ships Oranges To Iceland
The Florida Citrus Exchange of Tampa will make a substantial sized shipment of oranges and grapefruit from Florida to Iceland this week. This is the first shipment to this destination ever made from Florida. It is another pioneering step taken by the Exchange Export Division following citrus shipments made for the first time to the Belgian Congo two years ago.
The shipment left New York Friday, Nov. 8th, and is destined for supermarkets and fresh fruit markets throughout the island.
The Boston Public Library is the oldest free library maintained by taxation in any city.
Clara Barton P-TA Is Active Group
The Clara Barton P-TA is tunate in having as it's speaker for the November meeting Mr. Nyhus of Nybus-Irrea Interior Designs. His topic be of particular interest to group since a large number new homeowners, and are with the problems of decor and furnishing their home good taste.
Meeting Postponed
This meeting, it should not noted, has been postponed its original date, Nov. 19 Tuesday, Nov. 26, one week later by authority of the Executive Board in order to enable members of the association to tend open house at Brooklyn Junior High. The Junior School is encouraging parents students in the elementary grade to familiarize themselves with the school their children will attend, and with this in mind new date was set for the regular November meeting.
Plan Apron Contest
Ways and Means Chairmen Mrs. George Lawton, reports that plans are developing nicely the carnival to be held next spring. An apron contest is planned for March and prizes will awarded in all three divisions Mothers, Fathers, and Children. The aprons will then be sold the Country Store, just one of many booths expected to keep carnival attendees and participants busy having fun. The affair sponsored by the Ways and Means committee, the Ham Diner, was an overwhelming success.
