Broadway P-TA Meet Officers At First Meeting
Introduction of new officers for the current school year were introduced to members of the Broadway P-TA at their recent meeting. Mrs. George Bell, president, introduced Mrs. Donald Maus, vice-president; Mrs. C. H. Browning, recording secretary; Mrs. Roger Acton, corresponding secretary; Mrs. William Armentrout, treasurer; Mrs. Roy Pina, auditor; Mrs. Cruz F. Sandoval, parliamentarian; Mrs. Eunice McConaghy, historian; Mrs. Eugene Peralta, room-mother chairman; Mrs. Martha Cooper and Mrs. Margaret Disbennett, membership; Mrs. Roger Acton, ways and means; Mr. James G. Hull, budget and finance; Mrs. Donald Maus, publicity; Mrs. Darwin Stockwell, hospitality; Mrs. Clark Brown, magazine and emblems; Miss E. Kate Rea, character and spiritual; Mrs. Fay Carmichael, music and art; Mr. Alex Jimenez, safety, and Mrs. Martha Cooper, health and welfare chairman.
The principal, James G. Hull presented the teaching staff identifying each with their grade. They are: Mrs. Fay Carmichael, fourth grade; Mrs. Dorothy Terry, third grade; Mrs. Margaret Disbennett, second grade; Mrs. Eunice McConaghy, first grade; Mrs. Martha Cooper, special training class (senior); Mr. Alex Jimenez, special training class (intermediate), and Mrs. Velma McCormack, special training class (primary).
Robert E. Shanks, superintendent of Anaheim Elementary Schools, was guest speaker for this first meeting.
Local Artist Is Featured in "The King and I"
Albert Cranston, local teacher of voice and well known over the entire United States for his work in opera, is featured with Miss Betty Yeakel in the Broadway hit "The King and I," to be presented Saturday night, Nov. 9, at Laguna Beach.
The Rocket to Stardom Musical Comedy Company winter stock season will open with the presentation on Saturday. One week after the Laguna opening, the company will perform in Needles on Saturday, Nov. 16, and will be sponsored by the Band Boosters Club. Plans are being formulated for a Hollywood opening around Christmas-time with performances at other southern California towns before that time.
Musical director of the Broadway hit is Lovyss Bradley of Anaheim.
World-Renowned "Las Posadas" Opens Run Nov. 20
Rehearsals are now under way at Padua Hills Theatre for the 25th anniversary run of the world-renowned three act play of Christmas in Old Mexico, "Las Posadas."
Conchita Gallardo and Armano Felix will be cast as the mother and father of Panchito in heading the brilliant array of Mexican Players.

Robert E. Shanks, superintendent of Anaheim Elementary Schools, was guest speaker for this first meeting, choosing as his subject "Information About Your School District."
Facts on the High School District tax override election scheduled for early in the month, was explained by Ben Schroeder, a member of the Anaheim Union High School Board of Trustees.
The refreshment table was decorated with a beautiful 'horn of plenty' as the central theme. Mrs. Carmichael's fourth grade room mothers were hostesses.
Junior Ebell Hears Mildred Younger
Mrs. Mildred Younger of Los Angeles, one of the most prominent figures in today's women's politics, was the speaker at the Tuesday meeting of the Anaheim Junior Ebell Club. Subject of her lecture was "What Is a Woman?"
Mrs. James Corrigan was program chairman and Mrs. Leonard Bouas conducted the business meeting.
Following the lecture, coffee was served, with Mrs. Gail Burton in charge of the hostess committee.
Grove Players in "Night Must Fall"
The cast of the Garden Grove Community Players are busily rehearsing under the direction of Carl Goodwin for their latest production of Emlyn Williams "Night Must Fall" which proved such a tremendous success both in London and New York.
Louise Morrison is the stage manager with Ted Eckelberry, a newcomer to the Garden Grove group, playing the part of Dan Laurian Bigelow portrays Mrs.size by George Lybarger.
Lutheran League Hold Convention
The Orange County Zone of the Lutheran Laymen's League of Southern California were hosts to the 17th annual district convention, held last weekend at the Disneyland Hotel.
The theme of the convention was "Building With Christ." A. W. Herrmann, international president of the league was speaker at the dinner held Saturday night at the Gourmet Restaurant which was attended by approximately 500 members. Mr. Herrmann was formerly active in league work in New Orleans, where he served for 14 years as president of the Zion Lutheran Church.
Presentation was made of the Christian Attainment Award to the LLL group which reached a "maximum of Christian service, stewardship and fellowship."

Donald Mauerhan was best man and the ushers were Bill Guss, Allen Schoefield and Murray Brown.
After a reception in the church parish hall, the couple left for a honeymoon trip to the San Bernardino mountains, and upon their return will reside at 491 So. Lemon Street, Orange.
The bride is a graduate of Central College in Pella, Iowa, and is teaching in the Orange School district. Mr. Fickle is a graduate of Santa Ana College and is now attending Chapman College where he is majoring in sociology. He is on the staff at the Orange Juvenile Hall.
Annual Book Fair
Held Yesterday Here
The annual Book Fair sponsored by the Association for Childhood Education was held yesterday, Wednesday, at Thomas Jefferson School, 504 East South Street, this city, from 2 to 8 p.m.
Children's books were displayed and were for sale. Librarians and teachers were available to recommend and help in the selection of the books. Three authors were also in attendance this year to autograph books purchased. Leo Politi's books about California Mission Days are well known and liked in this area. Jeanne Bendick writes books with a scientific slant, which can be used by very young readers. Taro Yashima writes books about Japanese children, and draws his own delightful illustrations.

Reveals Betrothal
Mr. and Mrs. Max F. Hiltscher of 7852 Placentia Avenue, Anaheim, were hosts at a dinner party on Sunday night, at which the engagement of their daughter Vicki to Rudy Mauch was announced. The bridegroom-to-be is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Mauch of Arcadia.
Spider mums and Shasta daisies were used in a lovely centerpiece, and ceramic ashtrays bearing the couple's names were given as place favors. A huge cake also...

Epilepsy Society
Elects Officers
The Orange County Epilepsy Society held their second meeting Tuesday of last week at the YWCA building in Santa Ana.
There was an election of officers with a social hour following.

ATTEND DEDICATION
Employees and executives of the United States Borax and Chemical Corporation's Anaheim research laboratory were among the more than 3,000 guests attending the dedication ceremony yesterday, of their new $20,000,000 plant at Boron. High officials from over the nation were in attendance, including the principal speaker Under-Secretary of Interior Hatfield Chilson. A chuck wagon barbecue and tour of the new plant followed the dedication.
