How many acts of faith make a country great? The first took place in 1776 when 56 men defied the power of Europe's proudest king to inscribe their names on the Declaration of Independence and give America a creed. It was only the beginning, Americans have written their faith in their country on every page of history, are writing it still! One of the good things to know about our country is that eight million working Americans have signed their own personal declarations of independence by inscribing their names on the Payroll Savings application forms where they work. These and millions of other Bond owners know that U.S.Savings Bonds help to keep America safe. Just as they know that Bonds are safe as America. And now Savings Bonds are better than ever! Every Series E Savings Bond purchased since February 1, 1957, pays 3-4% interest when held to maturity. It pays higher interest, too, in the earlier years, and matures in only 8 years and 11 months. Now, more than ever, it's smart to save with guaranteed-safe U.S.Savings Bonds. Buy them regularly where you bank or where you work. PART OF EVERY AMERICAN'S SAVINGS BELONG IN U.S.SAVINGS BONDS The U.S. Government does not pay for this advertisement. The Treasury Department thanks, for their patriotic donation, the Advertising Council and THE ANAHEIM GAZETTE night's sleep will help alert and prepared to hazards of fatigue and behind the wheel."
