Home Savings Has New Manager
Ernest W. Sullivan, newly named vice president of Home Savings and Loan, has been appointed manager of the Anaheim branch office at 211 E. Center St. He replaces William B. Sheppard.
Mr. Sullivan, a native of Boston, Mass., joined Home in July of 1956 when he became manager of the Garden Grove Branch office. He resides with his wife and three children in Garden Grove where he is active with the Rotary Club, Garden Grove Chamber of Commerce, Garden Square Merchants Association and the Garden Grove Elks Club.
In his capacity as manager of the Anaheim office, Mr. Sullivan stated: "I will continue to see that Home's policy of friendly, efficient service is carried out to the fullest extent." He also mentioned that the free gift offer of the International Silver Company's 'Hostess Sets' is being extended for the people of Anaheim.
Home is the largest Savings and Loan Association in America today with present assets amounting to more than 450 million dollars. Home also has 35 million dollars in reserves, this being the largest reserve fund ever held by a Savings and Loan Association.

Huntington Beach
Expect Huge Crowd
The 53rd Annual Orange County 9th of July Parade and Celebration in Huntington Beach will feature two major parades and the only fireworks display on the entire Orange County coastline.
More than 2,000 men and women of the armed services will lead the parade and celebration. The Military will be in full dress uniform with gloves and sabres. The fireworks display will be set off at 9 p.m.
The parade will begin at 11 a.m. at Main and 14th Streets and turn onto Fifth Street, right to Orange Ave., left on 9th Street, left on Walnut Ave., back to Main Streets and then up Lake Ave. to end at Lake Park. It will be two hours long in which more than 60 entries will participate. At 10:00 p.m. there will be a bathing beauty contest.
Included among the floats is one entered by the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce.

Grant Macfarlane of Salt Lake City past national president of The National Exchange Club, was principal speaker and guest of honor at the convention. Mr. Macfarlane is a prominent member of the Utah bar. He served in the Utah State Legislature for 14 years. During four of those years, he was president of the Utah State Senate. His election to the presidency of The National Exchange Club followed service as National regional vice-president, member of the National Board of Control, and National vice-president. He has held other offices in Exchange during his 14 years of membership, one of which was the presidency of his club in Salt Lake City.
Officers of the California State Exchange Clubs are: Kennan H. Board of Modesto, president; Fred J. Burmester of San Bernardino, vice president; A. V. Jordan of Fresno, secretar; and Frederick L. Cronk of La Habra, treasurer.
Soybean test plots, which include four varieties, are established on the James Woo Ranch in Lancaster (Los Angeles County).
