Expect LA County Fair To Draw Over Million Persons Offering a panorama of amazing magnitude and diversity with a background of color, music and pageantry, the 29th annual Los Angeles County Fair opens its gates in Pomona, Friday, Sept. 14 for 17 days, closing Sunday, Sept. 30. Under the banner, "A Pageant of Progress," it will be a striking dramatization of achievement in agriculture, industry and the cultural pursuits. Five finalists from each division will compete as 10 finalists in the "bake-off" to determine winners of the contest tomorrow, Aug. 17, when they ply their baking talents in the agricultural exhibits building on the fairgrounds, starting at 11 a.m. Electric cooking is fastest!
