Vehicle License Fees Apportioned To Cities, Counties Robert C. Kirkwood, State Controller, today apportioned $85,501,202 of motor vehicle license fee ("in lieu" tax) revenue deposited in the State Treasury between December 1, 1955, and May 31, 1956, to California's 326 incorporated cities and 58 counties. The total amount apportioned to cities and counties during the 1955-56 fiscal year amounted to $94,464,512 — an increase of $14,-680,202 — or 18.4 percent — over the amount apportioned during the 1954-55 fiscal year, Kirkwood said. The current six-month portionment reflects an increase of $11,521,328 — or 15.57 per cent over the distribution mark June, 1955. The $42,750,601 distributed cities this month was allocated on the basis of population approximately $4.78 per capita. Anaheim's share of the allocation was $218,293.09. Another $42,750,601 were the counties, with Orange city receiving $873,182.62, approximates $4.04 per capita. Motor vehicle license fees levied at the rate of $2 per dred dollars of market value each vehicle for the privilege using the highways. It is also tax levied in lieu of personal property tax which originally imposed on motor vehicles of the counties and of the state, and subsequently imposed by the state to adhere uniformity. Total "in lieu" tax collected for the six months' period on May 31, amounted to $91,000. Deductions were made from amount of $2,105,812 for insurance and redemption charges on highway bonds; $1,300,000 support of the Department Motor Vehicles; and $2,000 for apportionment of coach fees under an amendments to the Streets and High Gode enacted by the 1955 law of the State Legislature. Now! Hot soup in 68 seconds when you cook electrically! Now! Hot soup in 68 seconds when you cook electrically! TODAY, NOTHING COOKS FASTER than a modern electric range. Hot soup in 68 seconds. Bacon and eggs in 3½ minutes. Instant coffee in 60 seconds. Fry, bake, broil or roast — electricity does it better. THERE'S MORE: your kitchen is as much as 16° cooler. And cleaner. Pots and pans stay mirrorbright. Kitchen walls look fresh and new twice as long. SOMEDAY YOU'LL COOK on a modern electric range. It's almost inevitable. But why postpone it? Edison rates are among the lowest in the country. What's more, Edison services your range free as long as you own it. (The only charge is for parts, when needed.) IF YOU'RE STILL COOKING the old way, it's simply because you haven't seen the new '56 electric ranges at your appliance dealer's. VISIT HIM and Live Better — Electrically! Santa Fe and Disneyland Note First Anniversary Nearing the first anniversary of operation is one of the world's most novel railroads, the S-scale Santa Fe and Disneyland, which is a feature of Walt Disney's magic kingdom in Andheim. The tiny railroad began operations in mid-July of 1953, with two trains. Since then an estimated one-and-one-half-million adults and children have viewed Disneyland in striking perspective from the perimeter of the 60-acre park. Named for the standard gauge transcontinental Santa Fe Railway, the SF&D rolling stock consists of one freight and one passenger train, and two locomotives. The latter are named for former Santa Fe presidents, C. K. Holliday, who also founded the line, and E. P. Riplé. The SF&D passenger train makes frequent departures from the railroad station, which is also the entrance to Disneyland. Passengers board cars enchanting design and decor which are drawn by a tiny 44-diameter steam locomotive built especially for Walt Disney. The passenger train is complete to baggage-car, and observation car with open observation platform. Shotwell-Gregory Nuptials Solennized Marilyn Louise Gregory, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert M. Gregory of 1257 E. Romneya Dr., this city, became the bride of Charles William Shotwell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl E. Shotwell of Redlands, in pretty wedding rites in the patio garden of the Gregory home. Magnolia leaves formed the main decoration, attractively used with white satin ribbons used with electric bell fixtures lined with blue bulbs. The garden was effectively lighted with soft toned multi-colored lights. Additional floral arrangements were white gladioli and lilies of the valley. The bride was gowned in white satin and Chantilly lace and she carried a bouquet of stephanotis and lilies of the valley centered. A. M. Milbrat, Passes Away W August M.
